A trip to Portugal in 2007 changed everything. Inspired by the great varieties of the Douro Valley, they pioneered the noble Portuguese wine varietals, Touriga Nacional and Arinto alongside the Hunter's beloved Shiraz and Semillon. Whispering Brook became the first winery in the Hunter Valley to grow and champion these extraordinary Portuguese varietals. 5-star James Halliday.

Alongside their wines, the estate's olive grove produces an exquisite range of single-estate olive oil, table olives and infusions — a rare combination that gives Whispering Brook its unmistakably Mediterranean soul.

Visitors are welcome to experience all of it. Come for a tasting on their wide, dog-friendly verandah with sweeping views across the vines or their cosy wood fire over winter. Stay for a long lunch. Bring your group and stay the night in their vineyard guesthouse. Or join them once a year for the Olive Long Table Lunch — a Mediterranean-style banquet set among the ancient olive trees that has become one of the Hunter Valley's most celebrated food and wine events.
