


Beginner and Intermediate Packrafting on the Mitchell River. Come and enjoy the wilderness of the Mitchell River National Park with their experienced and highly qualified guides love this trip. This trip suits the adventurous and those with some paddling experience. Start with a social wine and cheese the night before ( local gourmet delicacies) and then the next day you will enjoy a short walk down the hill to Den of Nargun and the Mitchell River. You will need to carry all your gear for the day in a hiking pack. Once at the river, you will inflate the rafts and pack, followed by learning and reviewing your strokes and techniques on the water. This is a must, as the first rapid can be a bit of a wake-up-call. You go straight in to the whitewater at that point, and there is no turning back. A 10 kilometre paddle, with lots of rapids, adreneline and fun along the way. They supply a gourmet lunch at the Old Weir, and then onwards to the finish through some of the best rapids in that section. Your final point will be the Glenaladale bridge.

Try a packrafting Day on the Thomson River. Scheduled to coincide with a water release from Carran Carran, this should be an exciting intro to other adventures. With a paddle from the Walhalla Railway Bridge down to Coopers Creek Campground, this should be a great day on the water. This day trip is design to be a consolidation of skills learned in the basic courses, but will touch on packing for day trips and overnight trips, as well as the gear you need to carry and other essentials. There are some great rapids of Grade 2 to 2+ standard, which will test your skills, and enable us to learn and consolidate our white water handling skills. You will be guided with qualified guides and offered instruction and river reading instruction along the way. The team will go through setting up your pack raft in the most suitable way, learn to stow gear and balance the kayak, learn to outfit the pack raft- all this before you even get on the water. And then review basic paddling techniques and moving water and white water skills. A great course to get you started on your new journey.

This Mitchell trip is family friendly. Starting at Angusvale, you will take the rafts down the river, stopping along the way for lunch. Enjoy some heart stopping rapids, and great scenery. Kids are welcome as long as they are older than eight. The entire section of river is 36 kilometres, so be prepared for an early start and a long day. But it will be worth it.

This journey leads you through the iconic Snowy River Country from McKillops Bridge down to Orbost. Spend four days on the river, camping on sandy beaches with a fire and great food and company. A fantastic experience for anyone with a love of the outdoors, and thirst for adventure.
