Local arts organisation Shopfront Arts Co-Op are excited to present Quigley in the Underworld, a new puppetry short-film created by Marlow Lackner and mentored by Solomon Thomas and Matt Whittet.
The premiere screening includes behind-the-scenes puppet tours and showings, sharing the creative process and challenges of building this richly strange world.
In a smog-choked city, Benedict E. Quigley: Private Duck Detective waddles in—broke, burnt out, and on strike. What follows is a chaotic descent into a bureaucratic afterlife where nothing works, no one's helpful, and Quigley's detective skills are… questionable at best. Blending handcrafted puppetry with scale models and collage, Quigley in the Underworld is the directorial film debut of Marlow Lackner, an author, illustrator, puppet artist, and new-wave/alternative rock producer.
Quigley in the Underworld is presented as part of Shopfront's Members' Production, a 3-month residency supporting a project made by one of their members and chosen by their members aged 8-26. The project receives artistic support, an industry mentor and a production team.
