We had a tour of the SCG this afternoon (8 Sep) and, truth be told, we didn’t expect it to be such a detailed and exhilarating experience. Our guide, Stuart, was absolutely amazing — friendly, witty, and so passionate about the game. I’m sure he conducts these tours several times a week, but his enthusiasm made it feel as if he was doing one special tour just for us. We were a small group of four — my husband and I, plus two others. One of them had no clue about cricket, but I’m certain he left as a cricket fan after this experience! Mr Stuart was very generous with his time, encouraging us to explore different parts of the stadium at our own pace. He shared fascinating stories, facts, and trivia — including the origin of why the Ashes series is called “The Ashes,” which was particularly interesting. The highlight was stepping inside the players’ dressing rooms — standing where so many legends of the game created history. It was a truly surreal moment for us. The museum and gift shop are also worth visiting, with beautifully crafted souvenirs to take home. This tour is an absolute must — not just for cricket fans, but for anyone who loves sports.
