Jazmourian Ensemble 'Bach in Shiraz'

The amazing Jazmourian Ensemble return to Braidwood by popular demand. Anna McDonald on violin and Malek Mohammadi Nejad on Iranian setar present 'Bach in Shiraz', a project that brings Western classical music and Iranian music into an imaginative and creative dialogue. The work is conceived as a musical response to the Chaconne and other movements of J S Bach's Partita No.2 for solo violin. Bach's music is not simply a subject for adaption or reinterpretation, rather it becomes the starting point for a musical response - a dialogue that emerges from the traditions, aesthetics and sonic world of Iranian music.
