Culburra Beach Surf School and Hire

I had never been surfing before, but thanks to this surf school, I absolutely loved it! From the moment I arrived, the instructor made me feel comfortable and confident. The instructions were clear, easy to follow, and perfectly balanced between learning the basics and pushing me just enough to improve. The challenge was just right—I went from never having surfed to actually standing on the board and riding a wave in my first lesson! What really stood out was the instructor’s approach. Super friendly, down-to-earth, and genuinely passionate about teaching, they made the experience both fun and rewarding. They gave great feedback and encouragement, which really helped me build confidence in the water. The location was also fantastic, with a great spot for beginners to practice without feeling overwhelmed by big waves. I left the lesson feeling accomplished and excited to keep learning. I’ll definitely be coming back anytime I want to sharpen my skills! If you’re a beginner or even someone looking to refine your technique, this is the place to go. Highly recommend for anyone wanting an awesome surfing experience!

My 9yo son loved it, helped him through his anxiety and had him up on his first wave! They were accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for a great morning, we will be back. ;)

If safety is important to you I would give this company a miss. They have no idea how to effectively supervise their students. My 10 year old son was hit in the leg and head by the surfboards of two of their students whilst swimming well in between the flags at Culburra Beach yesterday. In fact, quite a few of the class had been left unsupervised and had floated most of the way across the area being used by small children and families (including us). To my knowledge, surf boards are not allowed in between the flags because they can cause major injury. This business would know this but it would appear they just don’t care or have no idea how to effectively supervise a group. When I approached the one person I could see instructing the large group of student surfers and advised that my son had been hit he shrugged his shoulders and mumbled something about the tide moving the group over. I advised the lifeguards of what had occurred as this was all I could do. This sort of negligence will likely lead to a serious injury one day - I hope they have good insurance when it does.

Wonderful surf school. Friendly service, great instruction and a wonderful time surfing. They have a very family friendly vibe- servicing out of their family home. lots of children and people about which makes it feel very exciting. Would highly recommend/
