The Hunter Valley is where wine-making started in Australia. In 1832, armed with 20,000 cuttings from Spain and France, James Busby established the first vineyards in Australia. Their focus is to explore the Hermitage cycle trail allowing them to experience some of the best of what the region has on offer in a three day period. In this self guided cycle you are free to set your own pace, with time to enjoy a long lunch, sample local delicacies or stop for a wine tasting en route. Staying in the heart of Pokolbin, the primary wine-growing area within the Hunter Valley, everything is waiting to be discovered.

We came to Australia for a wedding, then travelled about with family until we were finally free and on our own. In Europe we cycle tour alone a lot so we decided to look for a touring company who could set something up for us here in Australia. Stumbling upon ACT we liked the sound of the 5 day Murray to the Mountains Tour (Brown Brothers winery may have been an influencer) emailed and without any fuss or bother a tour was arranged. Even though you’re supposed to have booked and paid a month in advance! So competent! The hire shop in Beechworth where we collected our e-bikes could not have done more for us, the route is immaculately presented on your phone and fascinating places to stop like wine tasting, olive oil farms, a cheese factory, pumpkin seed, recommended cafés to stop at made each day a real adventure. The accommodation was excellent and at every location Beechworth, Myrtleford and Bright in a convenient place for walking to get some supper. And…. oh joy, our luggage was picked up and waiting for us in our room when we arrived in the afternoon. In case you haven’t guessed, we really enjoyed the trip and can’t recommend Mary Kate our kind and very tolerant organiser more strongly!! Thank you ACT The Armitages
Munda Biddi Southern Cycle tour: A great trip that was very well organised by our tour guides. No request was too difficult for them. Each morning and afternoon ride briefing explained the riding conditions for the days ahead and all our questions were answered. Every day had different scenery and riding conditions ranging from gravel fire trails, winding coastal sandy tracks, through to technical forest single tracks (which you could have opted out of) The almost brand new electric mountain bikes made riding all these tracks a joy, which meant we could enjoy the scenery. We didn't have ideal riding weather, but our very clever guides changed the schedule around to suit the conditions. This meant for one section we had a tail wind instead of a head wind.
Really enjoyed our ride along the Brisbane River Valley. The first and last days were especially scenic. Awesome trail surface to ride on, neat little towns. Accommodation was good and local pub meals were perfect.
I ebiked from Wulkuraka to Kilkivan with 5 other 66 + women and the ride was achevable and enjoyable. The accommodation varied from WOW to who would EVER want to stay here? Our overnight bags were always at the next place when we rolled in. Overall it was a good experience.
We were visiting Australia for a month and had a bit of free time, so decided to book a bike trip last minute. We booked the ‘Murray to the Mountains’ tour and the company were excellent and professional about getting all our accommodations and EBikes arranged at such short notice. We really enjoyed every minute of our 4 days cycling, in beautiful scenery and a real bonus was having so many good food and wine stops each day. We would definitely book another tour through them and we’re only sad that it wasn’t for longer. Maybe the Rutherford and King Valley area could be added on as not too far away. The Bike Hire shop in Beechworth were great too and dropped and fetched us from several places. Thanks everyone.
