Clearview Cruises

We went on the Valentine’s Day Dinner cruise last night. I had high exceptions for this dinner was it was almost $500 for a couple. Firstly I was disappointed as I requested for a table near the window as it was a very special occasion for me. We got married in the morning and I informed them when I was making the booking. We were places in the middle aisle. I understand not all requested can be met but there were a few tables that weren’t occupied so I asked if we can be moved only to be told no. When the cruise started moving I saw some couple had requested to be moved next to the window and waiters happily met their requested. Not wanting to ruin the night, we stayed at our allocated tables. When we were served mid entree (Beautiful prawns dish) I asked my Husband let’s go upstairs to the outside deck so we can take pictures of our beautiful Harbour Bridge and Opera House as we were approaching it and sunset was about to happen. We left our meal at the table without taking a bite or touching it. We were gone less than 10 mins and looking forward to our meal and to our surprise when we came back our table had been cleared. I spoke to one of the waiters and asked why were our tables cleared, as they can see we haven’t touched it and was only given an apology and informed dinner will be served soon. We were not happy as we can see some couples still eating their entrees. During dinner, we requested for some soft drinks and the waiter forgot my drink after waiting 10 mins for them. When it came to dessert time, I was totally skipped while everyone had theirs around me including, my husband. He had to call the waiter over to ask where mine was and then I was handed one. Besides the great photo opportunity we took, the experience did not meet my standards for the price we paid that I had enough and I started counting the time when we were going back to the wharf so I can get off and won’t be back.

Signature Dinner Cruise with Wine Pairing. Call me fussy, but the first beverage was already poured and waiting as we boarded, and all looked like "short" pours, so not served at its coldest best. The First entree was already sitting on the table, for how long I'm unsure, luckily it was served cold. Warm Bread was served to the only plate on the table and you had 2 x fork and 2 x knife for the duration of the courses. The "Mid" Entree of Prawns (plural as we were served one each) on to our existing solo plate with your bread and butter. What ever happened to a Side Plate for bread? My partner had the Roast Fish main and as one who normally consumes every scrap and finishes mine, he left almost half on his plate. As for "wine pairing", we were offered two wines with each course, but literally offered "Pinot Gris or Rose" "Shiraz or Chardonnay?" No wine description, no tasting notes, no information as to why these wines were being offered, not even the region/state/country information. They were slow with wine service for our main course, and we didn't even have glasses when our meal arrived. Consequently the wine was poured as we finished our meal. The Opera Dessert was nice, but served with the most non-descript dessert wine of unknown origin as we didn't even see the bottle? The Manager sat the the table next to us with her glass of Coke and completed paperwork during the course of the cruise, particularly while we waited for our wines for our already served main course. For a vessel that can seat 240 guests for dinner, but only had maybe 60 on board, I can understand why. As a Premium Dining Experience it fell well short apart from the views and our Table Waiter that was giving it her best shot. On a final note, the venue was to be high end experience but felt more like a nightclub with the selection of music. #holidayinginmybackyard come on Australia, we can do better.

My husband and i celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday night with famiky and friends. We had an amazing time. The food was so delicious and our waiter Tom was very helpful and efficient. The whole evening was wonderful

New Year's Eve dinner cruise was exceptional. Great food. Crew were friendly and efficient. Close up view of fireworks. Great live band and DJ on board. Expensive but it's only NYE once a year.
