Owner/operator Miles Niddrie is a Professional Level Two Surfing Australia accredited coach. Having surfed the Newcastle area for more than 40 years, he has already introduced plenty of beginners to the wonderful lifestyle of surfing.
Learn to Surf Newcastle offers group lessons with mobile locations to provide more personal surfing instruction. Private and more advanced lessons are available too. School holidays 4 lesson programs with ages 5-12years Surfgroms 13-18years Surfteens. There are also adult and HerWave programs too!
Surfing is a great lifestyle, fun and fitness at the same time. The waves are always different and it's great to get out there and enjoy them with friends or family. Becoming a surfer takes practice, so getting some help will speed up the learning curve.

Surfing Lessons
Surfing takes a while to master and you will always learn new things from your surfs - just working out when and where to go takes experience. Travelling to find the right waves is part of the fun of surfing, but if you learn from an experienced coach you will know where to go. Lessons run all year round including winter and wetsuits are provided for your comfort. Times and locations vary around the tides and surf conditions on the day. Learn to Surf Newcastle can supply surfing equipment or you can bring your own. Free pick up/drop off subject to bookings.

What an epic session today! 🤙🌊 Had a surf lesson here and absolutely loved it! The coach was super warm, patient and genuinely passionate! You can really feel the good vibes the moment you step in. ✨ He pushed us just enough to get outside our comfort zone but still made sure we felt safe and supported the whole time. 🏄♀️💙 And today was a bit special!!! We went a bit further out and I actually managed to stand up and ride for longer! That feeling of gliding across the wave… just unreal. 😭🔥 One session is definitely not enough! I’m already craving more. Surfing really is one of those things where the more you practice, the more addictive it gets. 🌀 If you want to learn surfing properly, get a good sweat, and have fun at the same time! Dan and his team are all fantastic! We are so thankful for all that he and his team have done for our 8 and 6 year old with their lessons over the past few months including after school and school holiday program. They have been absolutely beaming and so excited to tell me all about their lessons and all of their progress and waves as soon as I got home this week from work. Our son has gone from needing 1 on 1 support to being confident to paddle out and for waves independently and even learning to duck dive. Our little girl has gone from being too scared to stand up to being gently encouraged and standing up on waves. We thought we could just teach them but the reality is they listen way more to great coaches and have lots of fun doing it! Thanks again Dan and team!

Had a 1 on 1 surf lesson here with a guy called Corey. He was an awesome teacher, funny and easy to talk to. There was another man there called Dan who also was super funny, easy to talk to. They were both really encouraging and made me feel comfortable quick. It felt more like a hangout than a lesson IN A GOOD WAY. Would HIGHLY reccomend.

My mate and I really enjoyed our experience! I've taken some surf lessons around the coast and these were by far the best. I got up on the board a bunch and the instructors were super helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!
