Offering a multitude of different opportunities from drift boat trips down the Tumut and Swampy Plains Rivers in absolute comfort, courtesy of our NRS raft. From utilising their newly launched, custom-built power boat on the famed Blowering Dam, targeting giant Murray Cod or Trout fishing on Lake Eucumbene - to land-based trips everywhere in between, Jimmy loves the Snowy Valleys and wants to share them with you the best way he knows how.
Jimmy can also create multi-day packages which include camping overnight (with all gear provided) and can be designed to include multiple experiences in one trip or the ability to explore further afield. Blowering Dam is conveniently located 15 minutes from Tumut NSW and is regarded for having the largest and toughest Murray Cod in the country. We had the most incredible family experience with Jimmy on our fly-fishing trip in Tumut! My wife, our two kids and I went last weekend, and Jimmy was absolutely outstanding in every aspect. He had the kids completely engaged the entire time, teaching them with so much patience and enthusiasm, while also making it really fun and interesting for us adults. We all learned a lot, felt super comfortable, and most importantly… we caught heaps of fish! It was the perfect balance of education, adventure and family fun. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend Jimmy to anyone looking for an unforgettable fly-fishing experience—can’t wait to go back! In COD we trust!! 🎣👏

My husband had a brilliant day with Jimmy on the Tumut River. It blew his mind that he caught (and released) 9 trout! Jimmy did a fantastic job navigating the river and teaching him the techniques of fly fishing. My husband would do it all again if he had the opportunity. Jimmy is very patient, has a great sense of humour and easy to get along with. We highly recommend this experience. Thanks Jimmy for a top day on the water!

I have been fortunate to experience some amazing cod fishing over the past 50 odd years, and my latest multi-day river drift with Jimmy of Snowy Valley Fly Fishing will remain a career highlight for many reasons. Jimmy runs a slick, seamless, yet totally professional operation. His skills behind the oars and ability to manoeuvre one of his, fit-for-purpose rafts is without doubt one of the key reasons for his innate ability to put anglers onto trophy fish. Coupled with this unique skill set is Jimmy’s in-depth knowledge of how water releases and/or rain events in the catchment areas can influence and affect the river systems and impoundments he intends to fish. With this knowledge he applies a flexible, dynamic approach to his guiding, both in terms of where he will fish and what techniques will deliver the best results for the anglers on board. Jimmy’s passion for his fishing, the intricate details and behaviours of the target species, and the waterways he fishes, are only matched by his vast understanding of these areas and the piscatorial delights that lie within. Whether you’re a relative new comer to fishing or a hardcore, season cod or trout fanatic, Jimmy offers you an experience that, in my opinion, is without equal in Australian freshwater fishing circles. Thanks, Jimmy, for such a memorable few days which I will never forget. A day on the water with Jim Barwick is very special. A very capable oarsman and extremely knowledgeable fisherman, who gives excellent tuition on casting and line mending when required. Jim makes sure that you are fed and watered very well and does everything he can to make sure your day is a good one. Jim knows the waters he guides on very well, and will create many opportunities to catch good quality fish, and lots of them. My son and I just did our second rafting trip with Jim on the Tumut river. The dryfly fishing with hoppers was fantastic, the scenery and water clarity were mind blowing, and fish we both caught were memorable. We can’t wait for our next trip with Jimmy. 😊😊 Stan

My day rafting on the Tumut River with Jimmy was fantastic. His rafting set up is terrific, the equipment is spot on and his knowledge amazing! My casting improved and I learned so much about the river and how to get the most out of every cast. Jimmy's enthusiasm, coaching and feedback made for a fun and informative day's fishing. It's a great package and I'll definitely be coming back for more!!
