Southern Cross Kayaking offers guided kayak tours at Ganguddy-Dunns Swamp in the stunning Wollemi National Park.
Operating at Ganguddy daily during school holidays and on weekends from September to April, There are a range of guided tour itineraries, with something to suit most interests, budgets and timetables.
Experience the wonders of the Cudgegong River. Marvel at the fascinating landscape as you wind through striking rock formations, stunning sandstone gorges and picturesque woodlands, learn about the fascinating natural and cultural history of the area and its environmental significance. From the long history of habitation of the Wiradjuri people, to the first European settlement, and the building of the weir that formed the waterway as it exists today, there are stories of interest for everyone.
Kayaks and stand-up paddle boards are also available for hire daily during the season. No experience is necessary; all tours and hire include equipment, safety briefing, paddle instruction, map and information on the area. The calm, protected environment makes conditions suitable for novice and experienced paddlers.
Southern Cross Kayaking also offer tours in other areas of NSW on demand, outside the season at Ganguddy.

Good Morning Ganguddy Guided Kayak Tour
Part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, Wollemi National Park has been a place of great significance to Aboriginal people for thousands of years. The spectacular landscape has been sculpted over millennia into a magnificent network of soaring sandstone escarpments, plunging gorges and canyons, winding river valleys and awe-inspiring geological features that shelter a rich diversity of plants, birds and animals. Enjoy a tour by kayak on the stunning Cudgegong River, accompanied by a professional guide who will provide engaging commentary on the fascinating natural and cultural history of the area and its environmental significance. From the long history of habitation of the Wiradjuri people to the first European settlement, the notorious 'lady bushranger' and the incredible tale of the building of the dam that formed the waterway as it exists today, there are stories of interest for everyone. Operating school holidays and weekends from September to April. Tours depart at 9:00am daily each morning during the operating season. Tour Duration is two - two and a half hours, and includes a short walk to the dam wall. Suitable for people of average fitness and mobility. Recommended for ages 12 years and over.
Friday on my Mind Guided Kayak Tour at Ganguddy
The Friday on my Mind Tour allows you to truly immerse yourself, reflect and witness firsthand the end of the day gloaming and quietening at Ganguddy - Dunns Swamp. A beautiful two hours on the water, ending before sunset, to give you time to get back to your campsite and get the fire going, or have plenty of time to head out for a delicious dinner at a fabulous local eatery. Enjoy a leisurely, picturesque paddle to the less explored upstream section of Cudgegong River, delving into still, reed-lined tributaries, where native birds nest and chatter and mountains and afternoon light reflect on the tranquil water. This tour allows you to truly immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings, as you float, reflect and witness firsthand the end of the day gloaming and quietening at Ganguddy. To add to this perfect start to your weekend break or escape, enjoy a glass of local sparkling! Elderflower Mist Sparkling a delicious bubbly, at nearby Widden Brook Farm on Nullo Mountain. Naturally fermented and low in alcohol, everyone can enjoy a glass, even the drivers.
Guided Paddle and Walk Ganguddy with Wirimbili Cultural Experience
Immerse yourself in the culture, history, and ancient Country of the Dabee people of the Wiradjuri nation, on the Wirimbili Cultural Tour Paddle and Walk. Awe-inspiring scenery will greet you at every turn as you paddle the pristine waters, and trace the ancient course of the river, seeing and learning about the towering and amazing pagoda rock formations that come to life in the afternoon light. Learn about the food sources the river provides, the Aboriginal history of the area, and further understand how we can all care for the rivers. You’ll alight from your kayaks downstream, where your Wirimbili guide will accompany you on further exploration of the stunning land that straddles the river, allowing you to absorb the view of the Cudgegong River from above. The guide will also identify some of the abundant native flora and fauna, explaining its significance and traditional use in medicine and bush tucker, and impart further knowledge about culture and caring for country. This beautiful and immersive tour involves paddling, and walking over some uneven ground and a moderate level of fitness is required.

Had a fantastic time kayaking on the Cudegong River. The folks at Southern Cross Kayaking were really helpful and friendly. We hired a 2 person kayak for 1 hour, which was just enough time for us to kayak to the damn and back. The view of the rock formations along the river banks were just incredible.

Thanks Cindy and John. We had a great time on the kayak tour yesterday. Our kayak tour guide, Cindy, pointed out so many things that would would not have seen, such as tortoises peeking their heads above the river surface, an abandoned willie wagtail nest, a bird and nest in the reeds, a darter bird, cormorants, as well as information about the area. They provided each person with a watertight bag for our cameras, or mobile phones, so we could take photos along our paddle. The kayaking was leisurely and nit difficult at all. The cicadas were in full song. I would highly recommend this company, whether you do the kayak tour, or just a kayak hire.
