This Queensland bottle tree (Brachychiton rupestris) is the remaining survivor of three trees planted in the mid nineteenth century. It has a bulbous trunk that stores water in times of drought. To ensure a continued presence of this iconic tree in the Gardens, young plants were included in the Bicentenary Garden in 2016.
