Discovery Parks - Harrington Beach

We've been here a couple of times now and both times (including during a flood) the staff could not have been more lovely. This time we came back with our van in tow and found the sites a little rough compared to some of our recent stays around the place, especially for the cost. I'd assume the power needs to be upgraded across the park to cater for the volume as both our site and our neighbours had issues with power dipping regularly just to be told it was a neighbours power cable (which it was not). Power issues increased over the weekend as more people arrived. The amenities are lovely when cleaned, being a long weekend and many unsupervised and unruly kids around meant in between times it left a lot to be desired. There really is a need for more family bathrooms (only one currently) which you need to pay a $50 deposit to obtain. Noting the plug for the bath didn't actually fit the bathtub so wasn't all that helpful anyways. Despite the lovely front reception staff I'd say there really needs to be someone holding visitors to account, especially in supervising their offspring, during peak periods. Two days into the weekend and our young kids could no longer use the toddler room because of the damage caused by poorly behaved older children that frequented the room and scared the babies that were trying to play in there, using foul language, being rowdy and violent and walking dirt and muck all through the padded room meant for under 3 year Olds. Despite the many signs around no e scooters and e bikes, both us and our kids were nearly taken out by quite a few as they hooned along the footpaths. Footpaths you could barely walk down because of the bikes left strewn around. Kids and teens crowded around the bathrooms, playground and jumping pillow until well into the night along with underage drinking really put a dampener on the atmosphere and feeling like our kids could have a good time too. We actually heard parents saying they love coming here as there are no rules and that really showed with the crowd this weekend. We should have known when as we arrived multiple people were trying to cheat the boom gate to get an extra vehicle in. We love the area and the park, and would love to come back and try the deluxe sites but definitely not on a peak weekend.
