At 200 metres, Ellenborough Falls is the tallest single-drop waterfall in New South Wales and amongst the tallest in the southern hemisphere. It is an iconic experience of the Manning Valley region in the Barrington Coast.
There are four ways to experience Ellenborough Falls depending on your fitness level. At the top of the falls near the car park is the first viewing platform and nearby, there's a short walk to another viewing area near the waterfall drop-off. Both of these are easy efforts.
The third option is a 10-minute walk down the timbered walkway to The Knoll. This viewing platform is directly opposite the falls for a top-to-bottom vista of the waters of the Ellenborough River tumbling into the ravine below.
The fourth option is truly worth the effort. You descend 641 steps to the base of the falls, with rest stops that you'll appreciate on the way back up. At the bottom is a rock pool misted by the spray of the water, splash some of the icy water on your face to cool off.
The view looking back up the waterfall is mesmerising, it puts the small human scale into perspective. On the slower walk back up those steps, notice the changing plants and foliage, keeping an eye out for the birds and animals that make this special place their home.
Ellenborough Falls is absolutely breathtaking. The sheer drop of the waterfall is incredible, and the lookout really shows how tall it is. Walking down into the gorge gives a completely different perspective and is well worth the effort. A stunning natural landmark and one of the highlights of the NSW hinterland.

Beautiful place, check your maps before going as ours took us through the middle of national park. We didn't have a caravan, if you do this road is not suitable. Inhook and head on up. Definitely go and buy a cuppa from the kiosk. Great service, good coffee. Sit and take in nature's beauty, the waterfalls are a must see. Absolutely stunning.

Amazing experience to see the second highest waterfall in Australia.
Truly breathtaking, a bit of a hike to get to the bottom, even harder to get back to the top. Little kiosk had great food and the locals were fantastic company whilstenjoyinga snack. A day well spent. Such awesome scenic views. 😊

Relatively easy walk to platform across from falls.
Harder to go down to base of falls - especially if you don't have appropriate shoes on

Good tarred road with a few km of dirt then tar again to the top. General store a km or two before reaching the falls. Absolutely beautiful scenety with a very well laid out and comprehensive Information board. One walking trail of 500 mtrs second trail 700 mtrs and a stairway of 631 steps to reach the bottom. Easy access to lookout with clean toilet facilities. No ticket required for entry. A nature lovers paradise❣️
