This motel is located in such a beautiful spot, view across to the river.
The outside of this motel may look ‘dated’ but the interior is freshly renovated. Nothing has been overlooked, fresh paint, bathroom upgrade and the cleanest floors! I spilled a small amount of water and wiped it up - the tissue showed no dirt at all.
Despite the sign showing No Vacancies, the place was peaceful, not noisy.
My friend and I enjoyed the pool on the 2 days there, it was also super clean and had recently been refurbished. The gardens are kept tidy.
My friend had stayed there earlier in 2025, she had made the booking.
I would highly recommend this accommodation, whether you’re passing through on your way north or south but realistically it would be an ideal place to unwind and stay longer.
We walked to the nearby club twice for meals and it’s a short drive to Laurieton where there’s lots of shops, a supermarket etc. if you need anything.
North Haven is a hidden gem - l don’t want too many people finding out about it.
Thanks to the management for keeping such high standards of presentation.

Driving up you'll see the immaculate lawn, upon closer inspection, you'll notice the lovely touches of little pot plants and tidy garden. Already winning points!
The exterior looks like a typical motel in a small country town but once inside, everything is immaculate! The beds are comfortable, towels are fluffy (including make-up removal face towel!), bonus sink in kitchenette, and best feature of all, the fully updated bathroom.
Owners were lovely, provided useful recommendations for food options (check out the nearby Beach Break Cafe for gorgeous views).
Would stay again if we are in North Haven!

Great place for a one night stay or for a long period time, as a returning customer I am always pleased to see that it is still an amazing place. The service to get in was easy and fast, the rooms were comfy and reliable and the showers were beyond amazing! And set with the lovely river right outside your door. Will definitely be coming back and recommend to others.

With two adults and a child, we stopped here overnight on our way down the coast and booked in about an hour and a half before arrival. This is a lovely little motel across the road from the river and their prices are really good. There’s a nice playground minutes down the road and it’s a very short drive or a moderate walk to the beach. Unfortunately, their pool wasn’t full when we came, and it’s spring time, so if that’s important to you, I would suggest you call ahead. The rooms are small but done up beautifully and have some decent amenities. The rooms look exactly like the online pictures. I also like that there was plenty of power outlets to charge appliances.
I was particularly impressed by the bathroom, as even though it was tiny, it looked newly refurbished and was absolutely immaculate. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of a dedicated grey make up face washer, so I could remove my makeup without being concerned about staining their white wash cloths.
The rooms are incredibly clean and well-maintained. I thought the beds were okay but my partner found it hard to sleep comfortably as he likes a firmer bed. One thing that really stood out for me here, and was a relief was just how quiet it was. It was blissfully silent for the majority of the night, with the exception of some waterbirds on the river in the early hours of the morning.
The staff were very friendly too and there are some nice eateries with a few minutes walk or a very short drive. It was a great spot to stay the night.
