EDIT: Received a call from the owner saying they would only refund us if we took our reviews down. No wonder this place seems to be a lovely motel- the reviews are fabricated. You should not offer a refund if you are just going to extort your guests. Check-in was advertised as 2:00pm, however when we arrived reception was closed and no one was available. We called multiple times with no answer, and eventually received a call back saying someone would be there at 2:15pm. We told her we were going to grab something to eat nearby and would be back shortly. When we returned at around 3:15pm, reception was still closed and we again had to call them to come down. Once they arrived, they checked us in and then told us that they had hired a photographer to photograph our room for their website. We were told we could enter the room, but the photographer would be coming later, meaning we couldn’t properly unpack, shower, relax, or settle in. Our bags had to stay in the car and we essentially paid for a room we couldn’t actually use at the advertised check-in time. To top it off, the pool was green, murky and looked completely unclean. It was absolutely unusable. The room itself was dirty, run down and clearly not maintained. The cabinets were broken, there were unplastered holes in the walls, and the bathroom was filthy. Overall, this stay felt completely unacceptable for a paid accommodation experience.
We had the pleasure of working with Bella and the team at Murwillumbah Motor Inn recently. A great small accommodation business worth visiting if you're in the Murwillumbah area. They are committed to providing a clean comfortable stay with exceptional service. Highly recommend!
EDIT I was contacted by the owner who said he would give me a refund if I took down the review. I refused. He said, no refund We arrived to check in at 2 office closed. Noticed pool a murky green colour. Eventually got a call back from 4 messages. Staff not on site Check in consisted of getting the key and been told we could go to the room but not use it as a photographer was coming to photograph it Room 3 is very dated and old. Kitchenette cabinetry should be thrown out. No power point near 1 bed. Bathroom dirty. Stain on carpet. This room is in desperate need of a refit
This is a place where you feel like home away from home. It doesn’t have any pretence but what it has is character and comfort and solace and the management is just awesome. I recommend this place for its simplicity and warmth. It is walking distance to everything and more you ever want from regional Northern NSW. Just charming and peaceful so what more can you ask for. Kudos to the management to making my stay memorable.
Stayed here on the final night of a weekend exploring the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, our room was great, bed comfortable, and the room lacked nothing as far as facilities, close enough for an easy walk to the centre of Murwillumbah and even an EV Charger for guest use. Super friendly staff too. The Murwillumbah end of the Rail Trail was the highlight of the trip and will be back again.
