Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort

We booked one bedroom villa and asked for the quiet place. We got exactly what we asked for - the villa across the lake from the main hotel apartments. It was amazing to see rabbits, deer, kangaroo in front of your bedroom every morning. Resort location is perfect - close to multiple walking trails, Skytube, short drive to Thredbo and Jindabyne. Accommodation is clean, well designed and equipped with everything you may need. Communications with OAKS management were easy and simple. Breakfast was included and it was the only downside. Food was eatable, but not tasty. Amazingly, even with small number of guests the kitchen could not keep up with replenishing the food, even pastry. In any case, for our next visit to Snowy, the resort will be our choice.

It's been 20 years since we visited Crackenback. Great location for summer hikes. Love staying on the lake. We ate at the Italian restaurant on site & enjoyed it. Lovely walks and great facilities for kids. The unit wasn't clean on arrival - unfortunately we spent the first 30 minutes vacuuming and cleaning. Dirty cushions & dead blowflies - unit looks uncared for. Well below standard. Sacks of dirty laundry left at our front door for the 4 nights we were there. We would return because of location and environment the resort sits within - we hope they improve the accommodation presentation & cleanliness.

Cos: Rooms are so disappointing and so aged. Moulds are in shower and bath. Bathrooms are so taps making massive noises as you open them up. My kid slipped over the bathroom tiles as they’re so old and used so are slippery like ice. There is no room service and no additional toilet papers are provided. Wifi won’t work and you need to request modem. Cuisines restaurant is overpriced and staff are not very accommodating. Key wasn’t working. Pillow was stinking.yuk! POS: Location is beautiful. Landscape is marinated well. Staff at reception are polite. Pizza restaurant owner and waitress are so kind and accommodating. Lake is beautiful and lots of activities. Gym is good but opens late at 8.

Perfect location to access Thredbo, the rooms were well furnished and the staff were very helpful. The views of the lake was breath taking, especially from midnight onwards! Look up at the sky and you'll see thousands of stars! Took those photos at night time and I couldn't believe my eyes on what I can see! There's also deer roaming around at night time, if you are lucky enough to see them!
