We didn’t camp this time. we walked down via The Basin Track, stopping by the Basin Aboriginal art site on the way, and spent some quiet time unwinding right by the water. It’s an absolute gem of a spot, but walking that track made it very clear that hauling heavy camping gear down on foot wouldn’t be easy. We noticed the ferry timetables at the wharf; taking the ferry across is definitely the smarter way to do it if you're bringing gear. Would love to come back for an overnight stay.

That was a long walk and 700metres walk in one of the reviews was completely false as only emergency vehicles are only permitted in that area and you can expect at least 2700metres walking which is a long way with camping equipments. However after you reach there, its really beautiful and you can also see some kangaroos during your stay. There is a hygienic toilets and a lot of barbecue grills. Unlike other campgrounds, this place has only 1 giant firepit.

The Basin is a wonderful spot for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature while still having access to all the essential comforts. The campsite is set right by the water, offering beautiful views and plenty of opportunities to relax or explore. One of the highlights is the local wildlife. Wallabies are everywhere, and if you head down to the shore, you might even spot stingrays. The campground is well-equipped with everything you need: clean toilets, BBQ facilities, firepits, and plenty of open space. It feels safe, quiet, and welcoming. Perfect for families, groups, or even solo campers. The rangers are extremely friendly and always available if you need assistance, even in an emergency.

Great set up. No bindies, lush grass for camping. Good drainage when it rains, protected from Southerly winds. Showers, toilets block. Electric bbqs and picnic tables.

Great family spot. Took my 3 year old for his first night under the stars and we had a blast. We saw a snake, Goanna, wallabies, all in one night! Yes it’s a busy camp ground but is easy to get to, has great facilities and is ideal for young families.
