The Belfry Guesthouse

I got to stay at the Belfry Guesthouse in Bellingen quite by chance - my van had broken down and I needed a place to stay! I'd walked past the Belfry many times and thought how nice it would be to stay there. I loved its beautiful olden day look and charm! I was so surprised when I googled accomodation and the Belfry came up as most affordable, as it's definitely the nicest accomodation around! When I arrived I immediately felt a sense of calm - it is such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere! The Belfry is on several levels with staircases inside and spiral stairs outside giving it a feeling like on a cruise ship! There are sunny verandahs on all the levels facing east and looking out through lush trees towards the river and the majestic mountains in the distance. It is truly a stunning view! Along the verandahs are a variety of couches, table and chairs, a swinging chair etc where you can sit in the sun and read a book or chat with other guests, enjoy a cuppa or a drink, or play board games and cards etc Or you can go and sit in the lovely outdoor Buddha Garden and have a meditate - or just sit quietly and enjoy nature! There's even a tame water dragon who comes every day to say hi! The Belfry has a lovely communal kitchen that is big and sunny with an amazing view, and is always clean and tidy - as is the rest of the place. There are plenty of shelves in the 3 fridges and cupboards so everyone has their own. There are an assortment of rooms from single and doubles to family rooms that sleep up to 6 - some with their own ensuites and some that use the lovely share bathrooms not far from their rooms. There really is something for everyone! But the best thing about the Belfry are the lovely, friendly, super caring staff who go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy and has everything they need! They always had time for a chat too. I am so grateful my van broke down so I got the chance to go to the Belfry - it really was a most wonderful experience in every way and I can't say enough good things about it! Now I have left, I still pop in for a chat and to say hi! And I'm looking forward to taking a break from my van again sometime and having a lil holiday at the Belfry!
