Calembeen Park is located just a short walk or drive west of the Creswick town centre. It boasts two beautiful lakes, which are home to plentiful birdlife and colourful waterlilies. It's a lovely spot to relax, walk, cycle, fish, row, picnic, and swim.
Chinese miners mined here for shallow alluvial gold during the 1850s and 1860s, and the area developed into a semi-permanent Chinese settlement. By the early 1900s the mine workings had been abandoned, and in 1911 they were deemed as a suitable place to establish a swimming hole. Known by locals over the decades since as 'the pool', tyre magnate Sir Frank Beaurepaire once commented that Calembeen was Victoria's finest inland swimming basin. It hosted many swimming carnivals and attracted hundreds of visitors to the area. The restoration of the historic dive tower in recent years has seen renewed interest in the reserve as a swimming facility.
Only one of the lakes in Calembeen Park is suitable for swimming and there are sudden, steep drops in depth. Exercise caution and always supervise children closely. There is a toddlers' pool at the site, which is open during the summer months.

Calembeen Park is one of those places that quietly surprises you in the best way. The lake is the heart of it all; it's calm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed afternoon. The walking paths wind through peaceful surrounds, making it easy to switch off and enjoy the scenery. The old diving tower adds a unique touch of character and nostalgia, giving the park a charm you don’t find everywhere. A genuinely enjoyable spot for anyone who appreciates simple, well‑kept outdoor spaces.

Beautiful lake with nice toilets, BBQ facilities grassy areas, walking tracks and diving platforms into the lake, visited during winter but will diffenantly will be going back in summer for a swim 🙂

Quiet place when I visited tho might be busy on a warmer day. This place is well set up for family day trips, dog walkers, on lead, picnickers. It has very good toilets, BBQ and picnic areas some with shade. A dedicated poll area plus swimming lake with diving boards. As well there's a separate lake area with pontoon for fishing. A path leads around the whole area which is an easy walk with one steeper area so not suitable for wheelchairs, scooters etc.

Excellent area which is a credit to the Hepburn Shire Council. With ample sealed and unsealed parking, bbqs and picnic tables, extremely clean and fenced toddler pool beside two swimming lakes and a separate fishing and sailboat lake with new jetty. Diving boards, clean toilets and cold shower facilities. It's location so close to town makes it a must if you are near the area. Highly recommend.

I use to visit lake calembeen as a kid. Today I took my daughter there to show her my favourite place only to find the water in the fenced off pool was filthy,the toddlers pool was full of weeds, the grass had grown to the top of the tables and chairs and the diving tower had lost the top platform. Very disappointing.
