Kangaroo Ridge Retreat is a 4-star, sustainability-accredited, hosted stay with private retreats for one or two people, set high on a secluded 50-acre property in the Yarra Valley. An hour from Melbourne, but you'll feel the pace drop the moment you start the climb up the ridge.
Up here it's big sky and massive views, looking out across the Yarra Valley to the mountains beyond. Your retreat is private and thoughtfully set up for a slower pace, hosted with the ease of independent check-in, a crackling fireplace in winter, a deep soak spa, and a balcony for two that you'll lose time on. Inside, you'll find a locally stocked in-cabin larder and wine bar, so you can taste the region without having to go anywhere.
They're big on ease, clarity and the little details that make time feel well spent. Come for the quiet, the seclusion and that travel feeling that resets you properly.

Press pause on the noise and come up to the ridge. No calls. No schedules. Just you. Book a two-night Solo Stay with massive views, a deep soak spa and a private balcony. They'll set you up with breakfast and the gourmet larder, sparkling wine and joyful blooms on arrival, a Nourishing Me meal pack and their signature candle. Late checkout, too. Consider it date night for one: record on, candle lit, zero small talk. Extras like massage, yoga or a driver can be added.
Two night minimum stay. No arrivals on public holidays. For solo travellers only. Subject to Kangaroo Ridge Retreat standard terms and conditions.

Add a little more magic to your spring stay with a private stargazing experience on the Ridge. As twilight fades, wander from your cabin to a prepared viewing spot for a private laser-guided tour of the southern sky and telescopic views of the Moon, planets, star clusters and distant galaxies. Hot chocolate in hand, no crowds, just big sky, good stories and the two of you looking up. Then wander back to your cabin, the fire and your sense of scale gently restored.
From the moment we arrived at Kangaroo Ridge Retreat, it felt special, being greeted by a kangaroo set the tone for a truly magical stay. The views are absolutely breathtaking, the lawns are immaculately kept, and the peaceful soundtrack of native wildlife makes it the perfect escape. What really sets this place apart is the exceptional attention to detail. Every touchpoint has been thoughtfully considered, from the cosy pyjamas and robes to the bath amenities, body scrub, and even heated towels. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating a luxurious, relaxing experience. We had planned to head into Healesville for dinner, but once we discovered the larder, stocked with an incredible selection of gourmet providore items, we happily changed our plans. Instead, we enjoyed a stunning sunset on the deck with a cheese platter and a bottle of wine, followed by cooking a delicious pasta and unwinding in the spa. Our only complaint is that we didn’t stay nearly long enough. Thank you for a wonderful visit, we will absolutely be back!
This place delivers exactly what it says on the tin. We had a wonderful 3 nights in mid March as a guest of Rebecca in one of the 2 cabins and can honestly say it was nothing short of perfect for us. The cabin is, in our opinion, much more spacious than the the images we’d seen so we were very pleasantly surprised by that. It’s a lovely, relaxing and very private space, as is the balcony which is a perfect space to just chill and enjoy. We were a little apprehensive about the stocked larder prior to arrival…..everyone’s taste is different…..but we needn’t have worried, it was very well stocked with fabulous food and we were never left wanting. The ingredients for the Pasta meal were perfect, and with a little imagination you can have a great time making and eating it. As for the BBQ pack……WOW. You have the use of an electric BBQ to enjoy some great alfresco dining. Something cool about watching half a cow (ok, an enormous rib which was more than enough for 2) sizzle away! You don’t need to bring anything…..Rebecca tells you that beforehand…..so trust her . We added the Vineyard tour to our booking and had a great day out with Stephen of Yarra Valley Winetours. We visited 3 Vineyards and one Gin distillery. All were great stops with plenty of wine flowing at the tastings. A shout out specifically to Steels Gate Wines and Yering Farm Wines. These niche family run places are small and not as clean lined as the Chandon’s of this world (though not knocking those as they are fantastic too) but they provide a more down to earth experience where you can talk to owners, and chat to staff in a relaxed atmosphere. Food at these places is amazing too. The Gin flight at the end of the day killed us . In summary, if you want something very relaxed, peaceful, calming etc etc…..but something which just seems a little different and indulgent……do this. And finally thanks to Rebecca who is a wonderful, friendly and very communicative host who actually does want to help you get the most out of your stay.
We had an amazing weekend at Kangaroo Ridge Retreat. The support to arrange experiences on the weekend and the communication pre arrival was outstanding. Everything was seamless from the downloadable door key to everything working in the cabin exactly as it should. The cabins are decorated beautifully with everything you could possibly want for an indulgent weekend away. The larder provisions and wine cellar were outstanding, overall it was a perfect weekend.
A true gem in the Yarra Valley. KRR really takes care of every little detail. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the design of the cabin and the spectacular views over the mountains. Small touches like having a set of PJs on the bed really take things to the next level. The selection of gourmet local ingredients, along with a quick and easy recipe, made it tempting to stay in and skip heading into town for dinner. There’s also a great variety of wine to choose from, personalised glassware and plates, and everything is thoughtfully prepared to ensure a seamless and enjoyable stay. At night, it’s all about unwinding on the balcony, watching the stars with a glass of wine in hand. The whole place has such a relaxing vibe, you feel completely at ease, surrounded by nature with top-quality amenities.
Reminiscing about KR stay a year ago! 💓 Rebecca is a very special host who will make your stay extraordinary-you can communicate whatever you need for a memorable experience too! The gorgeous cabins are full of special personalised touches that are unique and take heartfelt effort, the lovely decor, top notch unguents plus you can choose a larger than life array of mouth-watering treats- what you prefer to purchase like local craft beers, wines from a larder full of locally sourced delights! 👍😎 It is pretty phenomenal if you understand how the cabins could work for you to recharge! The moment you enter, you feel like you have been transported to a magical oasis- personal larder- wine cellar memory capsule without stepping out. 😊 So you do need time to even savour, learn, what has been provided, take note those flying in and out as it would be a shame 🫠 to forgo. Remember you are still within close range of Nature and its unpredictability as that is what you will be experiencing plus Rebecca will respond to you if you need any assistance!🍷😉 Everything will work out to an unforgettable memory etched in your 💓✨️ Hope you all enjoy KR especially this week with the spectacular astronomical parade in the sky💫😊🙏 If I were living in Victoria, would take advantage of this incredible, inspiring location for star gazing right from the comforts of your cabin.
