Lake Weeroona is the jewel in Bendigo's crown. This beautiful ornamental lake and reserve, set on 18 hectares, was transformed from a dusty mining area in the 1870s. Take a walk around the picturesque lake, enjoy a coffee, a heart warming meal or a delicious homemade gelato.
The kids will love the amazing playground and the wide open space to burn off some energy. To make the visit even more exciting, catch a vintage tram from the city centre to the lake.

Great for all ages and occasions
Lake Weeroona is Bendigo's gem. Whether you're with family, friends, or just need a peaceful walk, this place delivers.
The 1.5km flat walking track circles the lake perfectly. It's ideal for prams, scooters, or a leisurely stroll. Benches are dotted everywhere if you need a rest or just want to soak in the view.
Families – the modern playground is excellent. Kids love the climbing equipment, slides, and swings. There's also a skate park nearby and plenty of open grass for running around or kicking a ball.
Food options are a highlight. Grab coffee and hot jam donuts from the popular weekend van – seriously good. The Boardwalk Café offers meals with lovely lake views, and there are free BBQs and picnic shelters if you want to bring your own.
With friends, it's a relaxed hangout. Grab takeaway, sit by the water, and watch the swans and ducks. The atmosphere is lively but calm, especially on sunny afternoons.
Parking can get busy on weekends, so arrive early. Toilets are available near the café.
Overall, Lake Weeroona is safe, beautiful, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike.

What a beautiful, serene place. The loop or walk is not much... can be completed in 30 mins at leisure. Close to city centre. It also has a kids' playground and limited parking.

The lake is quite nice, but nothing special. It’s well located in walking distance of the town and a stop on the Talking Tram Tour. There’s a cafe with a great lake view and we appreciated some of the different bird who live by the habitat, but it seemed a bit overhyped for me.

A perfect place to relax, walk or run around, step around the ducks, coffee at nearby Fox & Giraffe or lunch at The Bridge Hotel whilst staying at Quest Bendigo Central. Enjoyable all round.

A wonderful lake to walk around.
This popular venue attracts dog walkers, bike riders, children, adults - just about anyone who enjoys relaxing in the great outdoors.
After having a late breakfast nearby, we strolled around this very pleasant park, lake and gardens.
The residents of Bendigo are indeed lucky to have such a terrific space to enjoy - as are the ducks, swans and other feathered creatures.
Visitors to the city can easily see why this place is so popular.
There is even a coffee van :-)
