About

Anyone who’s travelled beyond their own front door knows that the only way to really get to know a place is with a passionate local. Monnie Richardson started her pack-free guided walking business with that thought top of mind. She is a Mansfield local who loves to share her knowledge of and deep connection with the natural environment in and around this beautiful pocket of Victoria’s High Country.

Mansfield Bushwalks offer a range of guided 'pack-free' short walks and local tours, ideal for all fitness levels and age groups. With the convenience of local pickup and drop-off, Mansfield Bushwalks experiences are a great way to spend a few hours or the day connecting with nature and discovering breathtaking scenery, before returning to the creature comforts of your Mansfield base.

Why not turn your walking adventure into a weekend or mid-week getaway? Combine your visit to Mansfield and surrounds with an accommodation package, a variety of upgrades and/ or a tailored itinerary.

Mansfield Bushwalks ~ Howqua Hills Historic Tour

Howqua Hills Historic Day Tour

This exploration trip will take you back in history to the days of the gold rush era. The history of the region is mingled with the native bush, with relics of the past to be observed along the way. A variety of short walks on well-formed paths are part of the tour, though participants may choose to spend time relaxing on the riverbank. The day will ensure participants see one/several huts of the High Country; a tunnel dug to assist in the search for gold; native Australian bush landscapes (flora and fauna); a river of the High Country and relics of the gold rush era. Enjoy a picnic lunch (bring your own or catering for additional costs). Approximately eight hours including travel time.

Mansfield Bushwalks Victoria Mount Timbertop Climb

Mount Timbertop Climb

Set in the natural bush, this is a rewarding steady and winding climb to the summit of Mount Timbertop. View the challenge ahead while travelling along the Mt Buller Road. Gear up with decent walking shoes, water, snacks and a windcheater before following the well worn trail as it zigzags upwards from the base of the mountain. The path is well defined with a gradual ascent and a mostly single file track. Take time to catch your breath and enjoy the natural beauty of the bush. From the first viewpoint take a well-earned rest and admire the incredible views stretching across the valley to The Paps and Lake Eildon. Approximately four hours including travel time. The last 150 metres section is a short rocky scramble to the uppermost plateau. Enjoy a snack while taking in the stunning panoramic views of the district while resting under the age-old snow gums that only grow at high altitude. Your guide shares interesting information about unique flora and fauna, vegetation and cloud formations.

A lovely off leash park for dogs. Well kept gardens that were watered this morning by the council crew. Toilets are OK, but no lights and baby change available in men's toilets only which is weird. The toilets are located next to the playground. A gas BBQ is available to use also. All in all, a nice park that the kids enjoyed running around with their scooters.
