Re-live the movies and ride to Craig's Hut with McCormack's Mountain Valley Trail Rides, to see the set where The Man from Snowy River was filmed. The first day starts from King Saddle on Mount Stirling, making your way through the magnificent Woollybutt Forest and gnarled snow gums taking in the spectacular 360 degree views from the summit of Mount Stirling, as your horse picks his way along old cattle tracks and makes his way to Mount Clear for lunch. After lunch descend into the King Valley along the King River through the towering white gums and to their mustering hut, enjoy a camp-oven roast then relax around the campfire. The second day begins with a hearty breakfast, then up to the Purcell's mustering hut, Razorback Hut. Enjoy lunch in amongst the towering woollybutt trees before your trusty steeds begin following old cattle and logging trails into the head of the Delatite river, and through the many river crossings with the magnificent towering gums and fern trees. Riding out into the beautiful Mirrimbah park, once a logging town at the base of Mount Buller.
My Wife just did the Craig's hut ride. The team were amazing very supportive, horses were great, good very yummy food. Totally authentic experience and very lucky to meet Bruce with his connection to the man from snowy river movie and deep experience as a cattleman. Highly recommended.
What a great day! I've done trails closer to the city and have never ever been treated this well. We were made to feel warm and welcome from the second we arrived. The horses were all gorgeous and in great condition and one of the team even noticed one of the horses was lame before my partner even mounted. I love that they care so much about their horses. Our guides were absolutely lovely and i had such a great time chatting with them. I was on Dolly and she was gorgeous. It was hubby's first ever horse ride and he was on Cato who looked after him beautifully. I also loved that the team takes photos of you in front of a gorgeous look out as well. These guys are the real deal, genuine and care so passionately for what they do. We did the 2 hour ride so my hubby could decide whether the Craig's hut ride might be something he wants to do. Needless to say, we will ABSOLUTELY be back
A great day was had. Who wouldn't love the ride to the summit and then into Craig's hut where we had lunch. Great owners and guides. Horses were good and sure footed.
The ride guides Deb and Stef were awesome, we had a great half day ride and they made sure we had an excellent ride - even provided us with some spare jeans after we arrived wearing shorts- thanks for an awesome ride and experience - highly recommend if you want to go riding in the Victorian High Country
I went on the half day ride in a small group totalling 4 guests and 2 guides. The route we took had great variety, we saw Roo's, deer, a fox and an eagle. The horses were matched well to riders, my horse "Dolly" was a powerful Clydesdale that challenged me but I was advised clearly how to master the skills required. Had a very enjoyable time thankyou.
