    Areas closed for ground shooting for feral animal control

    Areas of Budderoo National Park are closed between 6:00pm Monday 12th October 2026 and 09:00am Friday 17th December 2026 for a pest animal ground shooting operation. The closed areas are:

    • Douglas Creek Trail
    • Powerlines trail east of Carrington Falls
    • Knights Hill precinct

    This program will target deer. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.

    Other pest animals, including pigs, goats, foxes and feral cats will be targeted if observed during the operation.

    This operation will involve night time ground shooting only. The park closure is between 6pm - 9am Monday to Thursday during this time.

    Ground Shooting will not take place during school holidays or on weekends or public holidays.

    Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area. Do not enter the closed area during shooting periods.

    Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information contact the Illawarra-Highlands area office on (02) 4887 8244.

Keep an eye out as you drive along Jamberoo Mountain Road there's a small sign alerting you to one of the most spectacular views on the south coast it's definitely worth the stop.

Jamberoo lookout is perched on the edge of the coastal escarpment, and its viewing platform offers a striking panorama over rolling hills and paddocks and out to the Pacific Ocean.

If you're a keen photographer, Jamberoo lookout is an absolute must. On a clear day, you can see Kiama, Lake Illawarra and even Five Islands off the coast of Wollongong. Snap away and capture it all. When you are finished why not take a walk or cycle along Budderoo track or stop into Minnamurra Rainforest Centre.
