Take a walk to the top of The Paps Lookout and you will be greeted with expansive views of the rolling High Country hills and Lake Eildon.
From Mansfield, drive around 15 minutes toward Melbourne on the Maroondah Highway, where you will see a sign stating 'The Paps, 700 metres above sea level'. Enter via the farm gate opposite and close the gate behind you. Follow the gravel road, a right of way across the paddock which permits access to the Paps Scenic Reserve. After you cross the two farm gates, you can head upwards on foot or by four wheel drive. The grade of this hike is moderately uphill but the views are rewarding.
Gorgeous view over Mansfield and Lake Eildon. You can either walk or 4WD it
Great walk with stunning views on the lake and countryside. Plan 2h30 to walk both summits.
Not suitable for regular cars because of low ground clearance and loose gravel surfaces with extremely long drops if you skid off the mountain. Easy 4wd. Walkers can park quite near the top and then slog up the rest.. Great views.
Well formed TV access road. Makes for a pleasant walk, it’s fairly steep in some sections. Great views.
Nice walk along a fire road. Somewhat spoiled by there being more people driving up than walking but the views on top make up for it. Probably should have gone up Southern one tho as it would give unobstructed view over Lake Eildon.
