Gertrude Contemporary

GERTRUDE IS AUSTRALIA’S LEADING INCUBATOR OF CONTEMPORARY ART Respected nationally and internationally, Gertrude has proven our impact for over 30 years shaping the careers of Australia’s most celebrated artists. 85% of artists who have represented Australia at the Venice Biennale, or have been curated into the Biennale, since Gertrude’s founding in 1985 are our studio and exhibition alumni. As a non-commercial and independent space, Gertrude offers artists freedom for risk-taking, innovation and ambition. Our artistic program – including our studio and exhibition program – is unique in its equal emphasis on the production and presentation of contemporary art. This enables us to back great artists to explore new ideas and present risk-taking work at pivotal points in their careers. Gertrude gives audiences unique insight into the creative development of artists.

I loved the staff at Gertrude, the blonde girl (I forgot her name) was super helpful and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to learn more and experience art at its finest.

Open day last week, with artist talks, performances and two exhibitions. Beautiful post modernist contemporary artists space.

Great space and always good local contemporary artists.
