Plus, about half the property runs cattle - peacefully grazing away. Accommodation is a queen bed and a single bed in a separate room. The Cottage is self catering with a well equipped kitchen, barbecue, wood heater for those cosy cool nights and wide verandas with views across the property.
We love it here. Dave and Wendy are fantastic hosts, and Dodge and Puku, the property pups always welcome us and our pup. The property, cabin, tracks and general area is always impeccably kept. The birdlife is amazing. This visit we had a friendly possum, who let me pat her. Can’t rate bellthorpe stays highly enough - James and Alison - we will be back for trip 9
A tranquil setting amongst beautiful bush & rolling hills. Plenty of bird life. Accommodation excellent. Very clean & comfortable. Also private. Great hosts. We will be returning again, already had a couple of stays.
Bellthorpe Stays was a beautiful place and so welcoming. David and Wendy Clark really do a wonderful job of combining gentle agriculture with vital conservation work in a setting that encourages people like me to really connect with the magesty of nature. Our cabins were cute, clean, comfortable, and with spectacular views. We barely went half an hour (except when sleeping) without seeing something stunning or at least special. Birds of a glorious variety soar past our windows over the valley while others like lorikeets, king parrots, and cockatoos munch on the seed snacks left for guests to put in feeders during our stay. We got to view threatened, vulnerable, endangered, and critically endangered species of many taxa and plenty of the common ones that are actually not commonly noticed by plebs like me. It's totally worth going to this wonderland if you're interested in plants, birds, frogs, butterflies, or just relaxing in beautiful scenery. The cabins are isolated enough that you can't see or hear your neighbours but close enough that you could, reasonably walk to and from your neighbour's porches for afternoon charcuterie if you made friends. I noticed in the old dairy shed that there are about 500 DVDs to borrow (not exaggerating) and plenty of books and reference material on the natural paradise here. There are heaps of long, beautiful walks to go on and spectacular 4WD options too. I hate hikes, personally, but if you team up with naturalists then you get to stop every 100m to observe something really special. Don't hesitate to book and stay here if you have any regard for the natural world.... or if you want to develop your interest.... or if you just need a reason to smile.
A beautiful location, cosy well-stocked cabins, fireplace and comfy beds. A variety of landscapes to explore on well maintained walking tracks. Wendy and David are most welcoming and knowledgeable. We can't wait to return.
If your soul needs a recharge and you’re craving peace and quiet surrounded by the loveliest bird calls and sightings, Bellthorpe is the place to go. The walks are beautiful, the hosts are wonderfully thoughtful, and the whole property feels like a special wildlife haven. Thank you, Bellthorpe, for sharing your little paradise with us — we can’t wait to come back and explore more!
