The Bjelke-Petersen Dam Caravan and Recreation Park is located approximately eight kilometres from Murgon and just over two and a half hours drive from Brisbane. Situated in the middle of native bushland, it is only as you drive along the road beside the Park, that the expanse of the Bjelke-Petersen Dam opens out before you. On most days, the only sound you will hear are those of people enjoying themselves or the call of the wildlife. This is an ideal spot for getting away from it all.
With rolling views, spectacular walkways and country charm, Bjelke-Petersen Dam Caravan and Recreation Park is an increasingly popular holiday destination for families and large groups as well as couples looking for a getaway with a difference.
From self-contained cabins to powered and unpowered camping sites, Bjelke-Petersen Dam Caravan and Recreation Park has it all. Facilities include amenities, kitchen common area, picnic areas, swimming pool, boat ramp, kiosk and tennis court.
We had a wonderful stay at BP Dam. We had a beautiful flat van site with a clean ensuite. So much wildlife visited our site while we were there, even a koala climbing up the tree next to our van .It was amazing to be able to have a campfire on a powered site. The park had so many amenities. Swimming pool, tennis court, short basketball court and well-equipped Camp kitchens and clean ablution blocks. The dam itself was beautiful with plenty of pelicans and ducks. The park was beautifully situated close to wineries and local country towns. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to friends and family to camp and look forward to coming back myself
We camped a few days at Horseshoe bend campsite, great water views. Amenities are excellent & reasonably priced.
The location and general grounds were fantastic. Plenty camping spots and great views. I believe the amenities are very poor, not enough for the number of camp-sites, also they were not cleaned and well looked after, although the cleaners were there every day. There are only 3 kitchen sinks for washing the dishes, so the queues were very long.
The toulet and shower facilities are good but the people who say its peaceful must have been during the week. The sites are very close together, loud music and little yappy dogs so close you can hear them fart in bed. Its not flatand challenging to get level.
A great camping area. Staff fantastic and extremely helpful. Amenities always clean. A big thanks to Ebony in the office for all her help. She was amazing. Highly recommended
