Google review

Disappointing experience- room smell, TV quality exceptionally poor, service not matching what’s advertised. Feels very dated. The W in Brisbane was a far superior experience in my opinion, I would recommend going there instead. Please read if you’d like further detail on my experience, the TV doesn’t work so I’ve got ample time to sit around and write reviews: I booked a stay at the Emporium Hotel South Bank and was looking forward to using the pool. Being pregnant, swimming is one of the few exercises recommended to help relieve physical pressure, so this was a major factor in my decision to stay here. Upon arrival, I was informed the pool was closed for maintenance. When I asked where this information had been communicated, I was told it was listed at the very bottom of the booking page. However, because the "Book Now" button sits well above that notice, there was no need to scroll, and I never saw it—there was no prominent alert or banner upfront. Rather than offering an apology or understanding, the staff simply told me it was my mistake. To make matters worse, the room has a distinct smell of damp or mold. With a heightened sense of smell during pregnancy, this has made the stay extremely unpleasant. Because of the lack of care from staff and the overall disappointing condition of the room, I have already canceled a future booking I had here for later in the year. I expected a much higher standard of service and attention to detail.
