Intrepid has been leading small group trips since 1989. That’s more than 35 years of adventures, new places and old friends, and countless unforgettable moments.
With Intrepid, you’ll go beyond the everyday sights to connect with the people and places at the heart of your trip. Expect a locally-based leader out front and a tight-knit bunch of like-minded adventurers by your side.
Explore Intrepid’s Queensland trips, wander through the world’s oldest rainforest, dive into the Great Barrier Reef, and connect with First Nations culture on a small group adventure.

On this five-day deep dive into some of Australia’s greatest natural wonders, you’ll explore ancient rainforests and one of the seven natural wonders of the world – the Great Barrier Reef. With an expert leader, you’ll start your trip in Carins and make your way to Kuranda, where you’ll fly over the tropical rainforest and the quaint mountain town on the 7.5 km Skyrail. Then, head to Port Douglas – a paradise town in Queensland surrounded by palm trees and warm sands. Explore the Daintree Rainforest – the oldest living rainforest in the world – and head out on a crocodile and wildlife-spotting boat tour. Keep sailing with a full-day snorkelling adventure aboard a catamaran, accompanied by expert marine biologists, then end it all with a walking tour of Mossman Gorge with a local Aboriginal guide who will teach you about the area and its links with Dreaming.

Balance outdoor activities and cultural education on a nature-lovers adventure to the Daintree Rainforest (the oldest rainforest in the world, which finds its home in tropical North Queensland) and Cape Tribulation. Starting in Cairns, you’ll take guided First Nations walks, visit waterfalls, learn about bat rehabilitation at Australia’s largest facility, explore the Mareeba Wetlands as the sun goes down, swim in Mossman Gorge, walk and hike through rainforest, search for soaring views, spot tropical fish, turtles and birdlife by watering holes and enjoy loads of free time to customise your adventure with optional activities – by kayak, Skyrail, boat or boardwalk.

Explore Australia's beautiful northeastern corner – home to rainforests, coral reefs and white sand beaches. This 13-day adventure starts strong with a dose of serenity in Noosa, before whisking you to the stunning surroundings of K'gari (formerly Fraser Island) and the ancient wilderness of the Daintree Rainforest. Explore the expanse of the iconic Great Barrier Reef and the bliss of the Whitsundays and enjoy free time in Airlie Beach, Hervey Bay, Mission Beach and more – on this whirlwind through north Queensland, you'll have plenty of opportunity to kick back on the warm sands with a good book or get right in on the action.

Filled to the brim with national parks, soaring mountains and gorgeous vineyards, Queensland’s Scenic Rim isn’t just scenic by name, it’s scenic by nature. From lush valleys to sky-scraping peaks, enjoy a front row seat to some of Australia’s best scenery as you explore on foot with a local leader who will bring the landscape to life and take care of all the little details. Delight in the wonders of Lamington National Park, weave your way up Mount Cordeaux, summit Mount Mitchell, uncover tranquil rockpools near Mount Barney and discover the diverse terrain of Tamborine National Park, accompanied by plenty of opportunities to try world-class local wine and produce along the way.

Explore Australia's sun-kissed East Coast from Queensland's capital, Brisbane (Meanjin), to the tropical hub of Cairns (Gimuy) on an oceanic trip that takes you from one beachside hotspot after another. Take an off-road adventure across the dunes of K'gari (formerly Fraser Island), explore the tropical waters of the Whitsundays, flop and drop on the palm-fringed sands of Mission Beach, soak up the energy and nightlife of Airlie Beach and explore colourful underwater worlds of the Great Barrier Reef in your free time. On this eight-day road trip, you'll get wet in the waterfalls, wild in the rainforests and sandy on the beaches – what could be better?

Travel to the tippy top of northern Queensland on an Australian adventure in Far North Queensland. Over 10 days, you'll learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture during immersive activities with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander guides, hit the beach for swims and nature walks, cross the Iron Range and soak in all the natural beauty of this rural landscape. Spend a night near Chilli Beach, camp in the bush under the clear night sky and tick Pajinka off your bucket list – the northernmost point of the country! Take an eco-cruise to spot crocodiles, walk through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Cape Tribulation and discover ancient rock art. With all these activities and more, you can soak up Australia's amazing history, landscapes and remote communities.
Our Indian Getaway with Intrepid was a fantastic introduction to India and excellent value for money. The itinerary was well planned, but what really made the trip exceptional was our guide, Surya. He made navigating the crowds, busy tourist hotspots, and the organised chaos of India feel effortless. Surya's local knowledge was incredible, taking us to authentic restaurants and hidden gems we never would have found on our own. At our request, he even organised a cricket match with some local kids, which turned into one of the highlights of our trip and created memories we'll never forget. The overnight train journey was another great experience and something we're so glad we did. Throughout the tour, Surya's enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine care for the group made every day a pleasure. Intrepid was easy to deal with from booking through to the end of the trip, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone wanting an authentic first experience of India.
I haven’t done a tour for 40 years (have travelled independently instead) but recently had such an amazing time on Intrepid’s 10 day Southbound tour of Vietnam that I am now a total convert. We arrived in Vietnam early so had a couple of days to ourselves prior to & at the end of our tour. On tour it was so relaxing knowing our itinerary & touring was organised for us and that all we had to do was turn up each day and enjoy it. Highly recommend! I loved our tour's mix of adventure, activity, culture & history, plus allowance for free time so we could tailor that time for our individual interests. Or just relax. Our tour guide, Ha, had incredible historical & local knowledge - & she went above & beyond to make our tour an even more exceptional experience. We travelled with an amazing bunch of people (13 in total) whom we now call friends & had so many fun experiences together. And so much of it heightened the senses - our Mekong Delta day trip, our boat on Ha Long Bay; motorcycle passenger tour out of Hue; a dinner organised at a local family’s home for those who wished to partake. Local walking tours & insights; so many questions answered; restaurants booked if wanted. Accommodation, food. All so very memorable. Others I’ve met who have done intrepid tours all seem to say the same & that their tour group were fantastic too - so I wonder if it is because Intrepid attract people of a similar ilk - relaxed, friendly, curious, with a social conscience & ready to embrace the culture of their country of travel. Loved our tour too for the opportunity to be involved in social enterprises & environmentally sound practices. It is a really lovely feeling when you are giving back whilst enjoying so much. This tour totally exceeded all expectations & I am already thinking about my booking my next tour. Thank you Intrepid!
Over the last 10 years I have been on 10 trips and visited 25 countries (and counting) with Intrepid Travel. As a solo female traveller, a number of things cross my mind when picking a destination to explore especially when it involves small group travel. The local trip leaders have always made sure that safety is number one priority and put your best interest at heart, creating a more purposeful and meaningful trip that you’ll remember for a lifetime. I have created some of the best travel memories on my Intrepid trips, from the amazing people you meet (friends for life) to the places I've been able to visit - my latest being visiting my 100th country on the Premium Bhutan trip in April earlier this year. This was such a special and impactful trip for me hitting this milestone and I couldn’t have thought of a better way to see the country than travelling with Intrepid.
Trip to Egypt with Intrepid - This trip exceeded all my expectations. It was incredibly well organised from start to finish. The itinerary was thoughtfully designed – we managed to see all the highlights without ever feeling rushed. There was a perfect balance between activities and free time, which made the pace feel relaxed and enjoyable. One of the biggest highlights for me was our guide -Waleed. He was truly exceptional – knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and genuinely passionate about sharing their culture and the Egyptian history with us. I felt like I came away not just with great memories, but also with a much deeper understanding of the places we visited. The small group dynamic added so much to the experience. It felt personal and friendly, and it was easy to connect with others. Accommodation was comfortable, transport was smooth. I really appreciated Intrepid’s commitment to responsible travel – especially the visit to the animal hospital. That was a deeply emotional experience for me, as I often feel sad when I see animals in distress while traveling. It was one of the most touching and unforgettable parts of the journey. Overall, this was a well-rounded, enriching, and heartwarming experience. I would 100% recommend Intrepid.
I recently did a trip with Intrepid to Cambodia and Vietnam. Like my previous trip with them to Java and Bali, this trip was exciting, very well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. It was effectively two trips concatenated together - Cambodia for a week and Vietnam for two weeks, each with its own wonderful, knowledgeable and very efficient guide. The trip as a whole provided excellent accommodation everywhere and the included meals were delicious. Travel was my comfortable mini coach. I was amazed at how easily the guides arranged for each of us to receive meals that met our respective dietary requirements. Travel was by comfortable mini coach, plus a couple of flights. Seeing new cities such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hue and Hanoi and their associated monuments was wonderful but I particularly enjoyed seeing rural areas such as Lake Tonlé Sap in Cambodia and the Mekong Delta, the national park near Ninh Binh and Halong Bay in Vietnam. The trip ran like clockwork. I particularly like the fact that groups were limited to 12 people (our groups were smaller) so it's easy to see everything and also enjoy the company of a small group. Group meals were a lot of fun. I strongly recommend Intrepid tours and intend to do more in the future.
