A heartfelt thank you to Todd from Oceanic Arts Australia. I recently reached out to Todd for some advice about a collection of New Guinea artefacts I had, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a kinder or more generous response. I sent him photographs of the pieces, and Todd took the time to look at each one and share his knowledge, including giving me honest estimates of their value and suggestions about the best ways I could go about selling them. What really touched me was that Todd wasn't interested in purchasing the particular pieces I had, yet he still took the time to help me. There was absolutely no obligation for him to do so, and I truly appreciated that generosity. I then contacted him again with photographs of some other artefacts, and once again he patiently shared his knowledge and advice. He was honest, respectful and incredibly helpful throughout. When you're dealing with things that have history and meaning behind them, it is wonderful to find someone who treats them and the person asking about them with genuine respect. Todd was extremely generous with his time and advice regarding a couple of Aboriginal artworks I was seeking guidance on selling. Although the works were not the right fit for his gallery, he responded thoughtfully, provided helpful industry direction, and offered genuine guidance without any obligation. I had some queries about Solomon Island artefacts and had been recommended to approach Todd Barlin at Ocean Arts Australia. I duly sent an email with photos and questions.
