Great central location and very easy to find. One of the highlights of our stay was the personalised welcome message and fruit platter that were delivered to our room. It was a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. However, the welcome message displayed on the TV addressed me as the wrong gender, which was quite jarring and distracted from what was otherwise a nice gesture. Unfortunately, we experienced a few issues during our stay. Our room had no power when we arrived, however maintenance attended promptly and resolved it. The kettle was leaking and had to be replaced, although the replacement kettle also leaked. The TV remote wasn't working, which was fixed with a battery replacement. We also found that our room was missing towels, toiletries and a bin liner on arrival, which required a call to housekeeping. Breakfast was included with our booking, however this wasn't explained at check-in, so we had to call reception the following morning to find out how to access it. The breakfast food was mostly good, although the coffee was disappointing. There was also a police attendance at the property during our stay, which was unexpected. While staff were friendly and responsive whenever we reported an issue, it was frustrating to encounter so many small problems during one stay. With a little more attention to room preparation and guest communication, the experience could have been much better. That said, the excellent location and thoughtful welcome gesture were appreciated.
Staff were lovely and helpful. The amenities in the room were lacking. An extra towel, blanket, or some water in the fridge would have been nice. There was no mini bar and the room service was very expensive. The lift was also very loud overnight despite being informed that we were given a room away from the lift to avoid the noise (as we were travelling with a child). We could still hear the lift all through the night every time someone used it. Amazing buffet breakfast at a very reasonable price. Beds were comfortable and rooms were tidy and clean. Overall, it was a good stay for the price. Disappointed that parking wasn’t included and was not informed about this until we arrived and were told we’d have to pay an extra $55 for overnight parking. This should have been noted prior to booking.
I'm flabbergasted by the relatively low Google Maps rating for Mercure Brisbane King George Square, as my experience was overwhelmingly positive. The hotel's location is outstanding. From Brisbane Airport, I took the Airtrain to Central Station and reached the hotel on foot in about five minutes. Public transport is exceptionally convenient, with bus stops serving destinations such as the Cultural Centre, New Farm and Paddington located just a block away. Brisbane City Hall and its iconic Clock Tower stand directly across the road, providing a wonderful view from my room. The surrounding dining options are excellent. During my stay, I enjoyed a meal at a Vietnamese restaurant in Brisbane Quarter and another at Little Provence, both within easy walking distance of the hotel. In terms of comfort and cleanliness, the hotel met my expectations. My room was clean, quiet and conducive to a good night's sleep. I also made use of the rooftop swimming pool, which was a pleasant facility for a short swim and relaxation. I booked directly through Accor and paid approximately AUD 350 for a two-night stay. As an Accor member, I appreciated being offered an early check-in at around 11:30 a.m., which had been arranged by a staff member, Alexander B. The service I received from Alexander deserves special mention. He was warm, welcoming and professional during check-in. I contacted him via email regarding a universal power adapter, and he assisted me in locating one promptly. His helpfulness contributed significantly to a smooth and enjoyable stay. Overall, Mercure Brisbane King George Square offers an excellent central location, convenient transport connections, comfortable accommodation and attentive service. I would happily stay here again on a future visit to Brisbane. I stayed on 17-19 June 2026.
The location of this hotel is great, just around the corner from King George Square and the Town Hall. It was also an easy walk to the river and the South Bank. The staff were charming and helpful. Unfortunately, our room wasn't as nice as we'd hoped. The furniture was all quite modern and had a fridge that worked, but the room had a rather stale smell. The wardrobe smelt as if damp clothing had been stored in there. I thought it might be the ironing board, so gave that a good wipe. The bed was a little firm. I didn't mind it, but my other half found it uncomfortable. The bathroom grouting could have used a good scrub in the shower area but the towels were a reasonable size and the water pressure was good. One bonus though, the tv had Foxtel with loads of movies etc. and shows for those down times after a day's sightseeing.
I booked a short stay in Mercure Hotel for the centrical location in the Brisbane CBD and I was so pleased for the service, starting for reception Fayla was so lovely. she sent us a beautiful cheese platter for our celebration. Breakfast was delicious and have wide options. Also we have lunch at the restaurant and the food was a big portion and taste good. Overall we have a really good experience for a good price in the centrer of Brisbane. Thank you.
