Beautifully located, the Novotel Sunshine Coast feels like a tropical sanctuary hidden within its grounds of palm trees. The reception is large and impressive with its tall ceiling and windows looking out onto the lagoon. The reception staff are friendly and efficient, in particular Rivelyn who was super helpful to me and my daughter. The room we booked was the King suite which is a great design for families with a bedroom, lounge and kitchen/dining area complete with fridge and microwave. We even had a family of kangaroos outside our room the entire stay. However, the room itself is in serious need of a renovation with old furniture and part of the ceiling hanging down in the dressing area. That said the room was clean so no complaints there. Lots to do for children with free water activities on offer and a lovely albeit unheated swimming pool. Food is decidedly average for dinner and breakfast. Staff at the hotel so nice especially Rivelyn and Paige the maker of heavenly coffee. However the reservation team are not so nice and I would advise booking yourself online than deal with those people. I did write an email about my experience to the Duty and General Manager but got no reply from them just a standard reply from the reservations team that I was complaining about. Shame they tainted my experience before I had even arrived - especially when the actual staff at the hotel are so wonderful.
The location is excellent and easily the standout feature of this property, with great access to the beach and surrounding areas. The resort itself has some strong positives — the coffees at the café were great, desserts at the restaurant were excellent, and cocktails were very enjoyable. Beach access was fantastic, the golf experience was awesome, and we really enjoyed the games room, pool, and outdoor activities on offer. Seeing kangaroos around the property was also a unique and memorable highlight. However, the overall experience was disappointing. The rooms felt quite dated and in need of refurbishment, and the service was inconsistent throughout our stay. We had paid extra expecting an upgraded room, however the air conditioning was not working. Although this was reported to reception and we were told it would be checked, nothing visibly changed. To make matters worse, the room (144) did not have the promised lagoon view and did not feel like a suite at all, despite paying close to $497 AUD for one night ($440 + $57 for an upgrade). The biggest letdown was the breakfast experience. We were initially told to sit anywhere, but when we chose a larger table (we were a group of three), a staff member named Annie asked us to move, saying it would get full soon — only to allow another couple of two to take that same table. This felt unfair and poorly managed, leaving a very negative impression. Overall, while the resort has great facilities and location, the room condition, lack of follow-through on issues, and inconsistent service significantly impacted our stay, and unfortunately, we would not return.
My main issue with the hotel is the room cleaning, basically it doesn't exist. We stayed 5 nights, and all they did everyday is take the bins out, make the bed (not change the sheets, just make it) and sometimes replaced the towels if left on floor and sometimes change the cups & glasses. Did they wipe down the sink? No. Did they clean the toilet? No. Did they clean the shower? No. Never changes the bed sheets. Maybe they hoovered? Can't really tell. The facilities are good, the hotel is pretty nice and well kept. The staff are nice and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was very good. But the cleaning needs to up their game by A LOT.
Me and my brother had a beautiful stay at Novotel Sunshine Coast and would absolutely recommend it. The rooms were stunning, clean and very comfortable, and the views were gorgeous. The pool area was also a highlight, so well maintained and a really lovely place to relax. We also had an amazing dinner and cocktails, which really made the stay feel special. There was a small hiccup during our stay, but Austin (Big Red) went above and beyond to help us. His professionalism, kindness and willingness to assist truly stood out and turned the situation into a really positive experience. A big shoutout as well to the bartender “Little Red” who was fantastic, made a perfect Hugo Spritz and added to such a fun atmosphere. Overall, a fantastic stay and we would definitely come back! Can’t wait to recommend this beautiful stay to my clients and friends.
We are a family of four with children aged 8 and 12, and we stayed for 4 nights in a Deluxe Bungalow. I’d like to give a special shout-out to Maddison at Reception. She was fantastic and helped me upgrade from a standard queen room to a Deluxe Bungalow by paying the difference. The transition between rooms was smooth and completely hassle-free. We absolutely loved our room, it was a 5 out of 5 for us. The activities team was amazing. They were great with the kids and offered plenty of activities throughout the day. The water sports were available all day, which the whole family really enjoyed. The bar staff also did an excellent job and provided outstanding customer service. We had a great time overall. A big thank you to the management team. You have built a strong team, and it’s clear how happy they are. It really shows in the way they work and treat guests.
