This was our first stay at Rydges South Bank, and we were incredibly impressed. It will definitely be our go-to accommodation whenever we’re in Brisbane. The location is fantastic. It was so convenient to catch the Airtrain from the airport, with just a short walk from the station to the hotel. Public transport was easily accessible, with both train and bus stations nearby. It was also the perfect location for travelling with children. We loved visiting the South Bank Markets, Botanic Gardens Markets, and the beautiful parklands directly across the road, complete with playgrounds and water play areas. We were also able to easily walk to Queen Street Mall and the Sky Deck, and it was only a couple of bus stops to the Mater Hospital, which made attending our specialist appointment stress-free. Our room was spotless, cosy, and very well equipped. The self check-in and check-out processes were quick and seamless, meaning there was no waiting around. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade to a Junior Suite, which made our stay even more special. We ordered room service for lunch, and the meals were absolutely delicious. They arrived promptly and were served at the perfect temperature. Our breakfast package was excellent value, with a fantastic buffet offering a wide variety of fresh, well-stocked options. There were plenty of choices for our child as well. The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The shower had great water pressure. Plus the towels were nice and fluffy. Every staff member we encountered was warm and welcoming. Housekeeping was friendly and efficient, the concierge team was incredibly helpful, and we really appreciated being able to store our luggage while we attended our specialist appointment. Overall, this was an outstanding stay. Excellent service, comfortable accommodation, delicious food, and an unbeatable location. We highly recommend Rydges South Bank and look forward to staying again.
Rydges South Bank has a ramp that runs straight into the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEB). It’s a short walk from South Brisbane station, directly on the AirTrain route from Brisbane’s domestic and international airports. It sits almost opposite Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes within a three block radius. The waterfront and the eye catching Wheel of Brisbane are a minute’s walk away, meaning you can do pretty much everything on foot. The lobby is uninspiring, and somewhat confusing to force everyone to an electronic check-in while reception staff stand idle behind a long counter. They’ve put more effort into the podium level where you’ll find their centrepiece restaurant, Bacchus, and the pool. The rooms ($340/night) are spacious. You want to be over the fourth floor and facing the river to take advantage of the lights and view. The bedroom is separate from the lounge and dining room with a small kitchenette. Both rooms have a flat screen television, and Netflix was easy to connect. Each space has a balcony, though the traffic noise was a bit hectic to leave them open all night. The bed was comfortable with nice linen and decent pillows. The bathroom was clean but I found the shower annoying: it was only able to be used as handheld and like most women I prefer to be able to use both hands to wash my hair. Products were okay. When did hotel rooms stop having note paper and branded pens? Breakfast at Bacchus is a buffet ($44/adult) with barista coffee ($6/cup). It’s Vittoria coffee and not particularly well-made. The breakfast offering looks nice but temperature was a problem across numerous dishes, and labelling sauces may have helped me find maple syrup to eat with my pancakes. Belgian-style waffles were too sugary, which impacted their texture: probably just one for the kids. Little round doughnuts made in the Italian style were tough and chewy. Miniature BBQ pork buns are a bad idea because the bun-to-pork ratio is all wrong. I didn’t have time to wait for a made-to-order omelette, so made do with fruit, cheese and charcuterie. Despite having dining credits as part of my package, the next day I went offsite to somewhere that cooked my breakfast to order.
Great location with fantastic views of the river. Our room was quiet, clean, spacious and a very comfortable bed. The Duty Manager arranged a complimentary and very generous birthday treat for my Husband ...wine, cheese and chocolates. Added such a nice touch to our stay. Staff were helpful, professional and friendly. Will most definately stay here again.
Great location. Close to railway and bus station. One bus stop away from West End where there are plenty of beautiful restaurants. Hotel easy walk to south bank and city cat. Just love this place. Rooms are well kept, quiet and had a great view of river.
I could not fault this hotel. After I made an error in my booking and did not see it until later, they went out of there way o change my booking and help me. Location is great and close to Brisbane city. Had a great stay. Breakfast was also very good, coffee so so. Will stay again
