See the world from a new perspective at QAGOMA. Together, the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art offer compelling experiences that will move and surprise you.
Their two galleries each have their own distinct personalities but are united in their purpose to share exceptional art. Queensland Art Gallery was established in 1895 and moved to its current residence at South Bank in 1982. It was joined by the Gallery of Modern Art in 2006 and the galleries now house a globally significant collection of contemporary art from Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
The experience of a visit starts when the striking architecture of their riverside galleries comes into view. Glimpses of Brisbane continue to anchor you to the subtropical city from inside each gallery, while ever-changing exhibitions, programs and events broaden your horizons.
QAGOMA is also home to a Children's Art Centre that presents interactive artworks for kids and families, a cinema that celebrates film from around the world, plus gallery shops with art, books and cultural curios to take home. Every visit is a conversation starter, and their outdoor cafes and award-winning restaurant offer places for stimulating discussion.
So whatever your mood, there is always something to capture your interest.

I recently visited the Queensland Art Gallery and had a wonderful experience. The gallery features a great variety of rotating exhibitions, so there’s always something new and fresh to see. I really appreciated how the collections are organized by region, such as Asian and European art. This layout makes it very easy to follow and explore different cultural perspectives. It’s a perfect place for a relaxing stroll, and I’d recommend setting aside at least an hour and a half to truly enjoy the exhibits at a comfortable pace. One thing to note is that some rooms are curated with very low lighting, which can make it a bit challenging to see everything clearly, but it creates a profound sense of silence and tranquility that adds to the atmosphere. Highly recommended if you're looking for a peaceful and culturally enriching afternoon

More and more- take a deep dive, multiple galleries and different themes. Reading the explanations and taking your time offers so many stories of different people, cultures and places! And free for all 😊

Great gallery and staff except for one male security guy (younger). He chased my husband and kid away since my husband had a backpack on his back. He did not allow them to enter all together. The problem is that while I was exploring the gallery on my own, I took a picture of at least 10 people that indeed had 1,2 ot even 3 bags per person and some were rather large. It feels like pure discrimination if a rule is enforced on someone with a child (there was only 1 more child inside the gallery) compared to the other people without kids but with huge bags. Fix this or you might get more of these reviews.

I visited the Art Gallery and was amazed by how beautiful both the works and the space were – and the best part is that it was all free of charge✨ It truly felt like a luxurious experience. For lunch, I went to the recommended QAG Cafe and tried their pumpkin quiche, which was absolutely delicious and unlike anything I had tasted before. The staff were very kind and welcoming, making it a very comfortable and relaxing meal🍽️ While having lunch, various birds came by to play, adding a charming touch to the atmosphere. I also couldn’t resist buying lots of cute souvenirs, which made the day feel even more special😊 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely a wonderful place I would love to visit again!
