We were so very pleased with the clean, tidy and modern unit. We had an absolutely amazing view. Had a lovely holiday and were most impressed with the help, advice and assistance from Karen (booking agent) and Michaela (front desk). Both ladies were able to give us our preferences of unit and were extremely patient and pleasant. Thank you, ladies!
Love the place although, it’s feeling a bit tired since we stayed over 15 years ago - light switches in bedside lamp that crackle and flicker; door handles that are a bit clunky to open and close. However we were comfy and aircon was fab. Barn door style on the main bedroom bathroom door left a bit to be desired for privacy, as there was a good inch and a bit gap when the door was ‘closed’. We were very happy with the upgrade and the kids enjoyed having their own bathroom space, so we def appreciated that.
Staff were very helpful and friendly . A huge surprise was the welcome hamper. Such a nice touch when we opened the door. Location is great especially for families . As it wasn’t school holidays it was nice and quiet through the week . Easy access to the beach which we took advantage of for our daily walks along the beach and pathway . Walking distant to dine - in or takeaway food . A short drive to Caloundra RSL and Caloundra Bowls Club . Meals were tasty and good prices especially in the Bowls Club. The unit was clean and tidy with plenty of crockery , pots and pans etc . Beds were comfortable and good size bathroom with toilet and also another separate toilet . Great views from the living area and balcony. The only issue we had was the lights outside our unit were on all night . Some people may like the light so if they get up through the night they can see where they are going . Personally I like complete darkness. The bedroom had two windows . The small window had a blind with shutters so that was fine . The windows above the bed only had shutters which allowed the light to still come through . That was our only issue but may not bother others. Otherwise would recommend as a great place to stay .
We stayed in room 32-1 & we loved the views and position but we were woken up early each day of our 5 night stay by a dull tapping noise. Most mornings it was about 6 am but one morning it was 4 am. I reported this to staff & hope they looked into it. I suggested the one of the staff sleep in the room, so they could try & work out the problem, but this alone would stop me from booking with Shearwater again. Sleep is very important on a holiday. The other issues was bedroom 2 was not clean. There were dust balls on the ceiling and walls. I left a note for the cleaners, so hopefully they cleaned the room. Thirdly - because we were staying 5 nights we had to keep asking cleaning staff for supplies of toilet paper & garbage bags. For the price we paid I would have thought that the staff would at least offer us the extra BASICS for the longer stay instead of us having to look for them & ask each day. Cheers Kay
We stayed here for a long weekend for the State OzTag tournament. The location is great — close to the beach and park. We were greeted with a gift pack and the night staff were lovely.— but the resort itself was disappointing. The unit was clean, but nowhere near as nice as the photos online, and the pool area needs work. We also had a yellow stain on one of our blankets too. The resort is not family-friendly. Pool hours close at 7:30pm, and it was even closed early due to minor “noise” issues, which we couldn’t hear. Staff seemed more focused on permanent residents than guests, giving it more of a retirement village vibe. Felt like guest were punished due to other people and their children who were causing issues. Friends staying at nearby resorts had later pool hours and much better experiences for families, including more spacious and nice apartments for the cost. They even had staff extend the hours in the pool area to accommodate to the family vibe of the weekend. We were really looking forward to this weekend, but it fell short. We will definitely choose another resort next year.
