Port Macquarie Koala Hospital

While small in size and the temporary location of the Koala Hospital, it was amazing to see the Koalas that were being looked after. The talk that was presented about the hospital and its breeding centre was outstanding by the volunteer guide. There are also information videos on loop to further describe their work.

The main Koala Hospital was being renovated so this is the temporary site for visitors. Although not permanent, the visitor area was well built and accessible. Tony, our guide for the day, was knowledgeable, passionate about koalas, and such a hoot - i.e. really funny! Ticket proceeds go to help more koalas too so it is definitely worth the visit.

This offers the public a great opportunity to see the amazing work of the dedicated team as well as the resident Koalas in rehabilitation. The volunteers guides provide insight into the challenges the Koalas face and how we can help improve their chances of survival. $12.50 donation to enter was good value.

What a great place to see Koalas, receive information from very knowledgeable and entertaining guides. We had a lovely lady called Irene walking us around and telling us all about Koalas in general and the poorly koalas they care for. If you have young children there’s a playground and adventure climbing through the trees too.
