About

Bawaka Experience is a fully Yolngu-owned and operated business run by the Burarrwanga family. They specialise in Yolŋu cultural awareness and immersion experiences for visitor and corporate groups.

They also offer a tour of the famous Ngalarrkpuy (Lonely Beach) for in-house guests (extra cost), which these days includes a visit to Bungugunglu, a very large, thousands-of-year-old Yolngu fish trap site. Visitors can choose to stay in different types of accommodation. All have access to shared bathroom facilities (no hot water), an open style kitchen/dining/lounge area with barbeque, fridges, sink and open beach fireplace.

There are double beachfront cabins, quad beachfront cabins , cosy tents with all linen provided, as well as bush campsites for those who are self-sufficient.

Self-catering: Visitors can use the existing facilities listed above. All other utensils, pots, cutlery, crockery, and other items must be self-supplied. Also, please bring your own drinking water, and food supplies.
