Amazing trip! It was a privilege to experience Country with expert and respectful guides. Joining the Geckos trip made it more than a walk (aka "I did Jatbula"). It was a journey of culture, ecology and landscape made rich by shared stories and knowledge. Logistics were excellent and the option to self cater was a bonus. Each day's walk finished with a campsite and swimming spot that really has to be experienced to be believed. Tropical savannah, multiple rock art sites, big skies, cool waters and chilled people was the perfect combination. 👌
I recently joined Gecko Canoeing and Trekking on the 5 day Jatbula Trail followed by the 3 day Katherine River Safari, and cannot recommend them highly enough! The Jatbula is a beautiful track with lovely changing landscapes, made so much more special with commentary from our very knowledgeable guide Mick. The food provided was delicious, and the assistance on slippery creek crossings much appreciated. The pre and post tour transfers and accommodation were also well organised and smooth. Thanks also to other Gecko team members Ben, Manu and Denis. The Katherine River paddle was also a special experience, with many thanks to John for taking us on the safest route through the small rapids, for the delicious camp cooking, and also sharing his knowledge and experience of the area and wildlife. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gecko for hiking and canoeing in safe and experienced hands.
Hi everyone I’ve just finished the Jatbula with Gecko ( July ‘25) and had a fabulous time. Our guides Jill and Dan were fantastic! Showing us places we would have missed by ourselves and telling us about the local floral and fauna and the indigenous song lines and places of interest including rock art. The campsites were great and a swim at the end of each day was fantastic. The food was also a highlight. Mick runs a great program and I would also highly recommend the beyond the Gorge walk in the Eva valley followed by the 3 day canoeing trip down the Katherine river! Well done all, I’ll be back…
A great 3 day canoeing adventure on the Katherine River. Our guide John was amazing. The 2 bush camp sites we used were fantastic. I loved this trip and can't recommend it highly enough. And we're not regular canoeists.
Very knowledgeable and supportive guides. Mick and Jill enhanced my walking experience with their knowledge about Country, plants and animals. They were proactive and supportive of all of us, and very professional. I couldn’t recommend them more!
