Shark Island

What can i say but wow!! I went here a few days ago, kayaking in from Pipers point and could do nothing but admire the views of the harbour for what felt like hours. Additionally I’d say it made for a fabulous picnic spot, watching the boats sail past. Will definitely be going there again, perhaps this time by boat.

LOVED it. We arrived at 2pm and were the only ones on the island until the final ferry back at 4. So peaceful, which is hard to find in Sydney! Excellent views of the harbour and the skyline. Take food with you and enjoy it.

Love this area. My family and I spent about an hour here one evening, and we had the whole island to ourselves. Very relaxing and beautiful place with some marine wildlife.

Not at all the Greg Norman of Islands, Shark Island aint no major runner up/choker...it really makes a picnic sing. Accessible by $20 round trip ticket from captain Cook at wharf 6 circular quay. There's around 20 good spots to picnic in the 100mx250m Island. Not named for sharks, there's only 1 recorded case of attack, and that a few lifetimes ago. Swimmers were happy with the experience, and there's many little beached, but be warned, there's a fair bit alive in there! The views are wonderful, tree cover liberal, but last ferry is around 5pm. You can get access with your own boat, through the national parks Web site. There's the odd invasion from tours, but not enough to spoil the place.
