Mantra Collins Hotel

We booked an apartment room which was brilliant for our week-long stay - small kitchen and separate living/dining room on Level 9. The room was very clean and extremely comfortable. The location in Hobart CBD is spot on, being only a 10 minute walk to the harbour, and a little further to Salamanca Place. A Woolworths supermarket is only a few minutes away along with other shops. The room was spacious and clean. There is no onsite parking but you can park next door for $18 per day. There is metered parking on the street. The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, with the guys running the foyer cafe remembering our coffee order each morning. The cafe is open in the morning for sit-down breakfast or take-away options. This may be the best place I've stayed in Hobart and we will certainly stay next time we are in Hobart.

Great spot to use as a base of operations when you are staying in Hobart. It's close to the main shopping areas, Salamanca Market, Constitution Dock and the Hope and Anchor Hotel. The rooms are what you expect at a Mantra property, and there is a cafe where you can grab breakfast and a coffee before you set out exploring for the day. One thing to be aware of is that there is no car parking onsite. You'll have to park in the multi storey carpark nextdoor which will cost you $25 per day. Reception will give you some tickets on arrival that you scan when exiting the carpark to reduce the price from the usual casual rate. Note: if you leave the car there for a day and don't use it (say, because you spend the day at Mona and took the ferry there and back), when you next leave it will hit you for two days fees rather than one.

The staff at Mantra are friendly and helpful, but very disappointed in the central heating. It’s freezing cold in the hotel room and when you attempt to put the dial up it automatically turns itself down and will turn off. We called reception and spoke about this issue and they stated that there is a set temperature that the it can only reach, which is very disappointing as it should be stated on the website. Previous hotel stays at other reputable places had split systems and we were able to control the temperature to our liking. So just a heads up to other so that they don’t encounter this issue. Also the vent in the bathroom does not work which causes the mirror and hot air to be trapped damping all our items in the room , not to mention the smell after utilising the toilet…. There is no ventilation or window that can allow the air in and the whole room smells bad after. The shower also has a gap that causes water to seep out and causes the floor to get wet. Last time we stayed we stayed we notice the tv did not connect to the internet and we had to watch programs on our phone. This time we didn’t even bother trying and brought our own devices. We thought we would give it another go and stayed again because the staff are lovely…. But once again disappointed. Note to all… make sure that the heating is not central…. rather split system as it’s freezing in here.

We had a wonderful stay at Mantra on Collins. The reception team were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to accommodate all of our requests. The room was comfortable and the location is so convenient — close to everything we needed. Highly recommend staying here, and we would definitely come back!
