Esperance Stonehenge is located in the beautiful coastal town of Esperance, on the South coast of Western Australia. It is a full-size replica of Stonehenge in the United Kingdom as it would have been when it was built. It consists of a solid pink granite structure weighing 2,500 tonnes.
Stonehenge is aligned to the winter and summer solstice, making it a spectacular event to be witnessed.
Visitors can experience the tranquil ambience of the structure as they can walk amongst the stones. It is a natural amphitheatre, and the structure's acoustics provide visitors with additional wonder. Sound journeys and theatre plays are amongst the events held here to benefit from this unique structure.
Esperance Stonehenge also has amazing views over Esperance townsite on the south coast of Western Australia.
Visiting Stonehenge was a great experience. The tour guide explained the history really well, adding depth to the visit. Tickets purchased at the visitor center. The original stones in the UK are sandstone and gradually degrading, but these ones are granite. The visitor centre is well organised, and the café offers good food and coffee. Worth a visit.
Esperance Stonehenge offers a truly distinctive experience, presenting a man-made marvel that echoes the Neolithic era's Stonehenge in Salisbury, United Kingdom, right here in Western Australia. The location provides picturesque farm vistas and excellent photographic opportunities, particularly enhanced by the favorable weather conditions. For an optimal visit, we recommend scheduling your trip during sunrise or sunset, though please note that prior booking is required for these times.
It's odd and quirky but an enjoyable visit and the hosts provided a detailed explanation of the place and development when we entered. I wouldn't rush back, but I think you have to see it once if you are here.
Mildly interesting, but for me wasn't too special. I think I prefer old and ancient places to new replicas. It would be good to visit at summer or winter solstice.
Yes, the whole idea of this place is bonkers, but it was worth a visit, especially if you’ve been to the original in the UK to see what it should have looked like. Made from real, locally sourced stone, it’s a really impressive structure, with a little guide from the cashier at the beginning. $14pp.
