Our Indian Getaway with Intrepid was a fantastic introduction to India and excellent value for money. The itinerary was well planned, but what really made the trip exceptional was our guide, Surya. He made navigating the crowds, busy tourist hotspots, and the organised chaos of India feel effortless. Surya's local knowledge was incredible, taking us to authentic restaurants and hidden gems we never would have found on our own. At our request, he even organised a cricket match with some local kids, which turned into one of the highlights of our trip and created memories we'll never forget. The overnight train journey was another great experience and something we're so glad we did. Throughout the tour, Surya's enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine care for the group made every day a pleasure. Intrepid was easy to deal with from booking through to the end of the trip, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone wanting an authentic first experience of India.
I haven’t done a tour for 40 years (have travelled independently instead) but recently had such an amazing time on Intrepid’s 10 day Southbound tour of Vietnam that I am now a total convert. We arrived in Vietnam early so had a couple of days to ourselves prior to & at the end of our tour. On tour it was so relaxing knowing our itinerary & touring was organised for us and that all we had to do was turn up each day and enjoy it. Highly recommend! I loved our tour's mix of adventure, activity, culture & history, plus allowance for free time so we could tailor that time for our individual interests. Or just relax. Our tour guide, Ha, had incredible historical & local knowledge - & she went above & beyond to make our tour an even more exceptional experience. We travelled with an amazing bunch of people (13 in total) whom we now call friends & had so many fun experiences together. And so much of it heightened the senses - our Mekong Delta day trip, our boat on Ha Long Bay; motorcycle passenger tour out of Hue; a dinner organised at a local family’s home for those who wished to partake. Local walking tours & insights; so many questions answered; restaurants booked if wanted. Accommodation, food. All so very memorable. Others I’ve met who have done intrepid tours all seem to say the same & that their tour group were fantastic too - so I wonder if it is because Intrepid attract people of a similar ilk - relaxed, friendly, curious, with a social conscience & ready to embrace the culture of their country of travel. Loved our tour too for the opportunity to be involved in social enterprises & environmentally sound practices. It is a really lovely feeling when you are giving back whilst enjoying so much. This tour totally exceeded all expectations & I am already thinking about my booking my next tour. Thank you Intrepid!
Over the last 10 years I have been on 10 trips and visited 25 countries (and counting) with Intrepid Travel. As a solo female traveller, a number of things cross my mind when picking a destination to explore especially when it involves small group travel. The local trip leaders have always made sure that safety is number one priority and put your best interest at heart, creating a more purposeful and meaningful trip that you’ll remember for a lifetime. I have created some of the best travel memories on my Intrepid trips, from the amazing people you meet (friends for life) to the places I've been able to visit - my latest being visiting my 100th country on the Premium Bhutan trip in April earlier this year. This was such a special and impactful trip for me hitting this milestone and I couldn’t have thought of a better way to see the country than travelling with Intrepid.
I recently did a trip with Intrepid to Cambodia and Vietnam. Like my previous trip with them to Java and Bali, this trip was exciting, very well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. It was effectively two trips concatenated together - Cambodia for a week and Vietnam for two weeks, each with its own wonderful, knowledgeable and very efficient guide. The trip as a whole provided excellent accommodation everywhere and the included meals were delicious. Travel was my comfortable mini coach. I was amazed at how easily the guides arranged for each of us to receive meals that met our respective dietary requirements. Travel was by comfortable mini coach, plus a couple of flights. Seeing new cities such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hue and Hanoi and their associated monuments was wonderful but I particularly enjoyed seeing rural areas such as Lake Tonlé Sap in Cambodia and the Mekong Delta, the national park near Ninh Binh and Halong Bay in Vietnam. The trip ran like clockwork. I particularly like the fact that groups were limited to 12 people (our groups were smaller) so it's easy to see everything and also enjoy the company of a small group. Group meals were a lot of fun. I strongly recommend Intrepid tours and intend to do more in the future.
First time experiencing small group travel, and as a single traveller I can highly recommend Intrepid. With everything organised for you, the hard work is taken care of. I met some amazing like-minded people too who have remained friends. I will definitely do another trip with Intrepid in the future - the only decision will be - to where?!
