Nestled in the tranquil surrounds of Whiteman Park, a short drive northeast of Perth's city centre and conveniently located enroute to the Swan Valley, Motor Museum of Western Australia offers an enriching journey through the state's motoring history.
Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a vast and diverse collection showcasing more than 200 historic vehicles, including rare cars, motorcycles, and trucks that trace the evolution of transport from the late 1800s to the present day.
Among the museum's most notable exhibits is Daniel Ricciardo's celebrated 2014 Red Bull RB10, renowned as the only winning Formula 1 race car on permanent display in Australia, alongside an expansive scale model collection - the largest such collection on display in the Southern Hemisphere with over 15,000 scale models to view.
Striking murals, such as the 'Legends of Western Australian Motoring' adorning the museum's exterior, provide a vibrant visual tribute to local automotive achievements. Additionally, a mural along Volunteer Way honours Holden's 69 years of history in Australia, celebrating its enduring place in the nation's motoring landscape.
Beyond the museum, Whiteman Park's inviting picnic spots, meandering walking trails, and convenient proximity to acclaimed Swan Valley wineries make this destination ideal for visitors seeking a leisurely day filled with exploration and discovery.

There is a good collection of classic cars here in display and it's the place to visit for all car collectors and fans. The location is really nice as well so you can play in the water pool playground nearby for free, have a picnic or a walk/run around the park. Regards @fooderarri
I visit motor museums throughout the world. This was a good experience, showed off Holden as no other museum elsewhere (duh) and gave off a vibe that western Australians loved muscle cars, were affluent from the beginning and really technically proficient to repair and create such marvelous cars.
Took my grandson and he had the best time ever. Entry fee is reasonable, so much to see, volunteers were very friendly and helpful, place was immaculate.
Visited today and honestly had a great time. It’s one of those places that feels way bigger on the inside — heaps of variety, from classic Aussie cars to JDM icons, race cars, motorbikes, and stuff you don’t usually see anywhere else. Everything is well presented, clean, and easy to walk through. You can just relax and enjoy the visuals without feeling rushed. I’m not someone who reads every plaque, but the displays are strong enough that you don’t need to. The atmosphere is calm, staff were friendly, and it’s the kind of place you leave feeling like you actually did something enjoyable with your day. Picked up a little souvenir from the gift shop too which topped it off. Highly recommend for anyone into cars, motorsport, bikes, or just looking for a solid weekend outing.
Vintage car enthusiasts, this is definitely your pit stop. Make it a long one as the collection includes motorcycles and cars, and a few old Aussie gems including a vintage ambulance with a skeletal passenger, a working electric toy race track, a scooter and a car for kids to try out and Daniel Ricciardo's Formula One (not for trying out but you can have pic with a cardboard cutout of this driver). Staffed by friendly and very helpful volunteers. Don't miss the many hub caps lining the walls and display cases full of models and a vintage electric car... we've come full circle, haven't we?
