The Urunga Boardwalk is a beautiful riverside and coastal experience in Urunga NSW, offering gorgeous water views and a peaceful way to explore the foreshore from town out along the river. A 850-metre section of the new boardwalk is currently open, including a viewing platform where visitors can already enjoy elevated views over the river and surrounding landscape. There is also a new 80-metre section and fishing platform open. In its current partial form, the Urunga Boardwalk offers a taste of what will be a truly iconic walking experience when fully completed in 2026. Whether you're after a leisurely stroll, great photo spots, or a chance to enjoy Urunga's relaxed coastal vibe, it's a lovely stop.

Urunga Boardwalk is one of those places that quietly takes your breath away. Stretching out over the water where the river meets the sea, it offers a peaceful and beautifully designed walk that suits all ages and fitness levels. The timber boardwalk feels solid and well maintained, making it perfect for a relaxed stroll, a morning walk, or a slow wander while taking in the views. What makes this spot special is the scenery. On one side you have calm, glassy water reflecting the sky, and on the other, natural bushland that feels untouched and serene. Pelicans, fish, and other birdlife are often visible, adding to the sense of connection with nature. It’s also an easy walk for prams and wheelchairs, which makes it very welcoming for everyone. The boardwalk leads you right out toward the ocean, where the views really open up and the sea breeze kicks in. Sunrise and sunset are particularly stunning here, with soft colours lighting up the water and sky. Urunga Boardwalk isn’t flashy or crowded — it’s calm, relaxing, and genuinely enjoyable. If you’re visiting the area or just passing through, it’s well worth stopping to slow down, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy one of the coast’s most peaceful walks.

Board walk area was nice, kids had fun jumping off the jetty, unfortunately 1 pontoon area was closed for asbestos and the board walk when we went 3 days ago was closed for maintenance.

A fantastic walk (and great place to swim at high tide) but the boardwalk was closed a few hundred meters along, as at January 2026.

Darling little township, very picturesque! Delightful boardwalk. Construction site in situ at present. Half the boardwalk was closed as at March 1st 2026 Great old pub close by. Easy access, plenty of parking upon visit (not peak season)

Needed to stop for fuel and decided to check areas to visit - so happy to have done so because this is the boardwalk with the most stunning views I’ve ever been (and I do travel a lot!). The path goes all the way on top of the mangroves until it reaches the beaches, and the water is so clear you can even see some fishes and stingrays. I heard some people saw some crabs as well - I did not have the luck though. Any case, the walk alone is absolutely worth it, recommend to go during the sunset as you will get amazing sky colours. Note that they are going to close the pathway because some improvements are going to be performed to the boardwalk - hope it becomes available again soon!
