Park Fire Ban - Blue Mountains National Park
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
However the following campgrounds are exempt:
- Galon Cabins
- Murphy's Campground
- Dunphy's Campground
- Burralow Creek Campground
- Euroka Campground
- Mount Werong Campground
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.
Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information about fire bans in parks and reserves including your responsibilities, visit the NSW National Parks fire safety page.

Great ride down to Glenbrook. Catch the train back.

Better known as a mountain bike trail, this fire trail may be a good starter trail for first time overnight hikers seeking public transport accessible trackheads - just remember to bring enough water. The Woodford end is VERY exposed with little shade or protection from the elements. I drank 4L of water doing this in the sun with camping gear, ie. 1L per 5km. For a shorter and more varied route you may be better off walking a circuit from Glenbrook to The Oaks and returning via Red Hands Gully (currently closed but passable). This grants proximity to attractions and is less exposed.

This is a great trail for keen bushwalkers or mountain bikers! Take plenty of water, sunscreen, hats and snacks because it's a reasonable distance (approximately 27 Km one-way) from start to finish.

What a great trailride🚵/walk👣, but hell, it hurts as much as it's fun. The trail is fairly well marked, but beware at the 13km mark heading southeast. There's is a bend that can catch off gaurd as the descent can keep your speed up. ride dow to either some single track green and blue runs🚵♀️ Then as awesome as the river crossing 🏞 is pretty check your fitness level 🏃🏼 as its all up hill and if isn't up to scratch as heading up to the station is really going to put you to the test.
