Tiati Wangkanthi Kumangka is a permanent exhibition at the Bay Discovery Centre, situated in the Glenelg Town Hall, Moseley Square. The exhibition was curated together with the Kaurna Nation and explores the true history of South Australia, opening up an honest discussion about South Australia's colonisation.
The exhibition is about truth-telling that challenges some of South Australia's history books, won the Australian museum sector's most prestigious award in the Museum and Galleries National Awards MAGNA for 2020, and is a must-see to learn about the settlement of South Australia in parallel with the historical experiences of Aboriginal people.
A copy of South Australia’s founding document, the rarely–seen Letters Patent, which dates back to 1836, is on public display. The invaluable piece of South Australia’s history is a key element of the exhibition which examines the words of the Letters Patent, which include recognition of “Aboriginal Natives” to occupy and live within the lands of the Province of South Australia.
I've walked past this beautiful historic building countless times but I finally decided to enter and have a look around. The ladies behind the desk were extremely welcoming, and I gladly left a donation. If you have time, it is definitely worth a look inside, especially if you're interested in the local history of Glenelg and the wider Adelaide region. Really informative without being an information overload. Everything is well laid out and there are some local artifacts worth looking at. Highly recommend!

A lovely little stop at Glenelg. A lovely piece of history with free entry, friendly staff and activities for kids as well. Bring some $1 coins if you want to use the old carnival machines.

I visited the Bayside Discovery Centre recently and overall it was a really cool place to check out. The exhibits were interesting and engaging, and there was a lot to learn while still being fun. It’s a great spot to explore, especially if you’re curious about local history and marine life.
The only downside was the elevator—it felt a bit sketchy and not the most reliable, which made going between levels a little uncomfortable. Aside from that, everything else was well worth it.
Definitely a solid 4-star experience!

The lovely ladies at the service desk help us with finding the activities, talking about some of the displays, then with post cards to send off. We went up and down the stairs and used the elevator. And coloured in some sea life for the picture wall.
