About

Troubridge Hill Lighthouse is a distinctive coastal landmark located approximately 13.5 kilometres south-west of Edithburgh.

Built in 1980 to replace the Troubridge Island Lighthouse as the area's principal coastal light, the tower was constructed from specially made, wedge-shaped clay bricks. Its innovative design provides resistance to strong winds and earthquakes, while the unpainted brickwork creates its striking and unusual appearance.

Standing approximately 32 metres high, the lighthouse guides vessels through the waters surrounding Troubridge Shoal and Marion Reef. Its light has a nominal range of 19 nautical miles.

Visitors can view the lighthouse from the surrounding grounds and enjoy expansive views of the rugged coastline and Southern Yorke Peninsula landscape. The grounds are open throughout the year, but the tower is not open to the public.

With its award-winning brickwork, maritime significance and dramatic coastal setting, Troubridge Hill Lighthouse is an interesting stop for history enthusiasts, photographers and visitors exploring the region.
