    Park Fire Ban - Blue Mountains National Park

    A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

    • They're under direct control of an adult
    • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
    • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

    However the following campgrounds are exempt:

    • Galon Cabins
    • Murphy's Campground
    • Dunphy's Campground
    • Burralow Creek Campground
    • Euroka Campground
    • Mount Werong Campground

    If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

This challenging walking track, from Wentworth Falls picnic area, explores the magical, upper section of Valley of the Waters in Jamison Valley at Blue Mountains National Park. Wentworth Pass takes in scenic waterfalls and valley views as well as magnificent forests and dense rainforest.

Begin your walk at Wentworth Falls lookout, with breathtaking views across the Jamison Valley to Mount Solitary. From here you can wander down to the top of Wentworth Falls, before joining the iconic National Pass. The pool beneath Wentworth Falls is a perfect spot to relax and revel in the moist cool air on a warm day.

Taking Slack stairs you'll plunge deep into the Valley of Waters, where you’ll notice the eucalypts and angophoras give way to lush fern trees and moss-covered rocks. The track leads to Empress lookout's exceptional views.

A very good grade 4 track for those who like a bit of a challenge located in Wentworth falls area. I reached the Wentworth falls picnic area by 8:30. I recommended going early to easy parking before it gets busy. The track starts at the picnic area where you can see the upper Jamison valley. I followed the signs from here and first took a short stop at the pool beneath the Wentworth Falls to take pictures. There are comfortable steps up to this point. After this the track is steep, narrow and tough with cliffs on one side and railing on the other side but you get rewarded by amazing views of cascading waterfalls and valleys of waters. The steps take you down to the bottom part of Wentworth Falls. This part is rocky and water falls from everywhere. From here you need to climb up the steep steps to reach conservation hut. Unfortunately, this section of the track was closed so I climbed the steep steps back to the picnic area. A few things to note. 1. You can start the track from the conservation hut end and walk to the lower and upper sections of the waterfall and back to the picnic area. 2. There's ample parking and toilets. 3. The Conservation hut had a nice cafe. 4. Its better to check local alerts at nationalparks.nsw.gov.au before heading to this spot. This website has very detailed information about every walking vtrack in NSW.
